Players can currently obtain Variable Dice through three main methods:
- Complimentary Gift: The first method offers a one-time gift from the Mem’s Gift rewards at the onset of the 3.0 update. Players receive one Variable Dice alongside ten pulls for limited-time banners. However, as this is a singular gift, it shouldn’t be relied upon for continuous access.
- Synthesizer Crafting: Variable Dice can be crafted within the Synthesizer using three Self-Modeling Resins. While this requires hefty resources, it’s a worthwhile investment if you’re less reliant on crafting new relics but need to enhance existing ones.
- Nameless Glory Pass: A Variable Dice can also be earned at tier 40 of the Nameless Glory pass. It’s important to note that this option is only available through the paid track.

It’s essential to bear in mind that rerolling modifies only the numerical aspects of the sub-stats, not their inherent types. This feature is particularly advantageous for relics associated with some of Honkai: Star Rail‘s top DPS units which may possess ideal sub-stats but unfavorable rolls initially.
