Homeworld 3 Year One DLC and Free Updates Launching in November
Before the release of Homeworld 3, Blackbird Interactive unveiled its plans for the post-launch Year One content update for this eagerly anticipated space-based RTS sequel. So far, the developers have rolled out one significant free content update alongside a paid DLC pack that introduced a new playable faction in the War Games mode.
This week, Blackbird Interactive announced an updated schedule for the Year One content, consolidating all upcoming paid and free updates into one major release set for November. This includes a paid DLC pack and a free content update that was initially slated for a 2025 release.
In a recent post on the game’s Steam page, Blackbird Interactive affirmed:
With the changes we’re implementing, we want to ensure that those of you who purchased the Year One Pass will receive everything we’ve promised. Moreover, we’ve adjusted our plans to incorporate features requested by the community.
The announcement highlighted that some of these community-driven changes will enhance Homeworld 3’s Skirmish mode. One notable addition is the Hyperspace Jumping feature, which allows players to rapidly enter combat or execute a quick retreat when the odds are not in their favor.
Each ship class will have the capability to research and unlock this hyperspace jump ability. To counter enemy jumps, players can develop Hyperspace Inhibitors to thwart hyperspace maneuvers. Additionally, Blackbird plans to modify research and resource-gathering mechanisms within the game.
The upcoming free content update will include 40 Artifacts and nine Challenges for the War Games mode. The paid DLC packs are set to introduce two new factions, Taiidan and Somtaaw, each with two new fleets, unique ships, and expanded content.
As of now, Blackbird Interactive has yet to disclose a specific release date in November for these updates and DLC packs.
