Hollow Knight Silksong: Steps to Repair the Bench on Sinner’s Road

Hollow Knight Silksong: Steps to Repair the Bench on Sinner’s Road

Learning to perform a diagonal pogo in Hollow Knight: Silksong can be challenging, leaving some players hesitant about the mechanics. However, I find that the initial segments of Silksong offer a more forgiving experience compared to its predecessors. This gentle introduction takes a turn in difficulty as you progress to Sinner’s Road.

Sinner’s Road is notorious for its severe challenges, featuring mudroach dogs ready to attack and airborne foes hurling throwing stars that can gradually deplete your health. Fortunately, the experience becomes significantly more manageable once you invest in the nearby bench early in this area.

Do keep in mind, though, that purchasing access to the bench doesn’t mean it’s immediately functional. You will need to put in some effort to repair it so your hard-earned Rosaries don’t go wasted.

Note: To restore the bench, look for a small breakable wall above you to the left. This wall leads to a complex platforming sequence that unlocks a lever to repair the bench. If you desire additional guidance, continue reading.

Locating the Bench on Sinner’s Road

Sinner's Road Bench Map

The bench on Sinner’s Road is situated shortly after you navigate through the initial area teeming with mudroaches trapped in cages. Move past the prisoner in their confined space, and navigate through a section filled with Roachfeeder and Roachcatcher enemies while heading left.

By following the signs pointing to the bench, you will eventually come across it alongside Shakra, who sells the map of the area as well. Note that accessing the bench requires a fee of 60 Rosaries, so ensure you have enough currency to secure this crucial spot for resting; otherwise, your efforts may prove fruitless.

Steps to Repair the Bench

Getting the bench operational is relatively straightforward, involving a switch, but reaching it can be a bit challenging, especially if you’re still mastering your pogo skills.

Sinner's Road Hidden Path

First, leverage your wall-climbing abilities to scale the wall on the left. Then, you will need to break through the hidden passage using your nail.

Next, utilize your pogo technique along with your drifter’s cloak to glide across several gaps while dodging swinging objects with spikes. While I won’t go through every single part of this platforming challenge, here are a few essential tips to ease your journey.

  • Use your glide skill wisely: This ability is invaluable during this sequence. Don’t hesitate to use it even if it means skipping the initial pogo, and remember to time your movements carefully through perilous sections.
  • Heal as needed: Before embarking on this challenge, try to maximize your silk supply since there are silk spools located midway through, allowing for healing opportunities.
  • Prepare for unavoidable setbacks: At a certain point, you’ll need to descend into the toxic water filled with maggots. It’s a necessary risk, but you’ll be able to escape quickly thereafter, so don’t stress too much about it.

After dealing with these obstacles, hit the switch and use your wall cling ability to escape back to the surface where you can finally rest at the bench—eliminating the need for a long trek from Greymoor again.

If you’re struggling with the pogo mechanics, consider seeking out new Crests that can simplify the process. The Crest of the Reaper and the Crest of the Wanderer both significantly enhance your pogo ability, making it resemble the mechanics in the original game and providing a smoother gameplay experience.
