Hollow Knight: Silksong Mod Introduces Basic PvP Multiplayer Feature

Hollow Knight: Silksong Welcomes Multiplayer with New Mod

Team Cherry’s latest title, Hollow Knight: Silksong, has garnered immense popularity, boasting enthusiastic reviews and an impressive five million players across various platforms. Despite its achievements, the game currently lacks any form of multiplayer functionality, leaving players craving a shared experience.

Introducing Multiplayer via Modding

To address this gap, a pioneering mod has emerged, developed by the creator known as XvX. This mod primarily enables simple Player versus Player (PvP) gameplay, enhancing the experience for PC users. A noteworthy feature demonstrated in an embedded video is the support for up to 30 players, although such a high player count can lead to chaotic gameplay.

Cooperative Gameplay and Future Aspirations

While the mod includes PvP capabilities, it also offers a co-op function for one specific boss encounter, the Fourth Chorus. This encounter has been adjusted to allow synchronized damage across all participating players. Moving forward, the mod’s creator aims to expand the co-op experience to encompass more adventures within the game.

Getting Started with the Mod

If you’re eager to try out this exciting addition, please note that it currently supports only the Steam version of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Follow the steps below for installation:

  1. Unzip the mod files to the root directory (ensure not to simply merge the folder).
  2. Once all players have entered the main interface, the host should click “Create Room” followed by “Invite Players.”
  3. After all players accept the game invitation, they can enter the game.
  4. This mod is compatible exclusively with the official Steam version.
  5. The PvP configuration file can be found at: Hollow Knight Silksong\BepInEx\config\com. XvX.cfg.

Version Stability and Recommendations

As for the mod, the current version 0.7.1 is marked with a warning regarding its uncertain stability and is intended strictly for testing. To sync the Fourth Chorus boss battle using this version, all players’ save files should not have defeated this boss yet. Initially, all players except the host must activate the boss, followed by the host. Caution is advised, as the host’s death may lead to the boss becoming unmanageable. To mitigate issues, it is recommended that the host utilize a cheat, and once other players are revived, they should avoid returning to the boss area to prevent complications.

Exploring Additional Mods

This mod is just one of several innovative modifications that have surfaced since the launch of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Other interesting mods include the Luma HDR enhancement, Relaxed Mode, and various tweaks aimed at improving the overall gaming experience.
