Hollow Knight: Silksong Guide – Achieving All Endings

Hollow Knight: Silksong Guide – Achieving All Endings

The highly anticipated sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong, offers a variety of intriguing endings that satisfy the curiosity of players willing to explore. While there is one primary ending that is easily accessible, several alternate conclusions await those who venture further into the game’s expansive world.

Similar to its predecessor, each alternate ending is accompanied by its own unique animated cutscene, illustrating the outcomes of players’ choices throughout the game. In total, Silksong features between three to five endings, depending on how one defines an alternate ending. For clarity, this guide will categorize all five as separate endings, noting that players can experience up to three of them in a single playthrough, as those endings do not negate each other.

However, the remaining two endings are mutually exclusive and can only be unlocked at the conclusion of Act 2, contingent upon whether certain conditions are met. Below, we will explore the requirements to unlock each of these endings, ensuring that no player misses out on the full narrative experience.

Weaver Queen

Silksong's Default Weaver Queen Ending

The default ending, referred to as Weaver Queen, is achieved by completing all the main quests and reaching the Cradle at the citadel’s peak without triggering the conditions for the Twisted Child or Snared Silk endings. Players must first acquire necessary abilities such as dash and wall jump before accessing the Citadel, either by ringing all the bells and defeating the Last Judge or through an alternate entry after defeating Phantom in Mist.

Once inside the Citadel, players confront the Cogwork Dancers, collect the three musical parts from the Cogwork Core, the Vault, and the High Halls, and battle Lace on their ascent, ultimately facing Grand Mother Silk. When the dust settles, Hornet absorbs Grand Mother Silk’s power and assumes the role of the Weaver Queen, marking the beginning of her rule over Pharloom.

Twisted Child

As an alternative to the default ending, players can opt for the Twisted Child ending by choosing to remain cursed instead of eliminating the Twisted Bud. This path unfolds when players reach the Cradle and engage the final boss, Grand Mother Silk, devoid of tools, silk powers, or items for healing.

While this challenge might initially appear daunting, it often leads to a more enriching experience of the fight. To take this route, players must avoid transitioning into a subsequent act by completing other endings first, ensuring they are ready for the formidable battle. If successful, Hornet does not bond with Grand Mother Silk; rather, the Twisted Child emerges, overtaking Grand Mother Silk and, presumably, the kingdom itself, as depicted in the concluding cutscene.

Snared Silk

Silksong's Voided Snared Silk Ending

The Snared Silk ending is somewhat of a transitional stage in the narrative rather than a fully realized conclusion. Nevertheless, it features its own credits following the cutscene. To unlock this ending, players must complete every quest available in all three towns, engage in donation quests, and acquire the Faydown Cloak, assemble the Cogheart, and offer it to the Second Sentinel. The most challenging aspect involves locating the Putrified Ducts, collecting fleas, and fulfilling myriad missions across the kingdom.

After conquering these tasks, players can engage with the mysterious figure in Songclave’s chapel, seeking guidance to proceed. Once the Grand Mother Silk battle is won, playing the needolin will entrap both her and Lace within the void and transition the story further.

Sister of the Void

Following the Snared Silk ending, players are granted the opportunity to shatter the void-soaked threads binding their save file and explore the world anew. On this path, players are directed to locate the Snail Shamans at the ruins of the chapel within Moss Grotto. The Snail Shamans will assign players the task of defeating three challenging dream bosses across different regions, or alternatively, they can opt to collect a heart from the Green Prince, which is a significantly easier endeavor.

After acquiring three hearts, players return to the Snail Shaman, delve into a captivating retelling of Hornet’s backstory, and obtain the Everbloom, known as the Delicate Flower in the original Hollow Knight. With this in hand, Hornet ventures into the Abyss to confront a void-soaked Lace in a final duel, ultimately repelling the darkness and preserving both her existence and the kingdom.

Passing of the Age

Distinct from the previous endings, the Passing of the Age ending can be pursued independently. This conclusion is unlocked after fulfilling specific conditions, leading to an additional cutscene that ties into the earlier one without detracting from it. The journey begins in the lake where the Fleas reside, where players should look for a hole in the rocky ceiling. By executing a super jump and playing the needolin, they can engage with Mr. Mushroom.

Mr. Mushroom travels through various locations, including Moss Grotto, Bone Bottom, Far Fields, Greymoor, The Slab, Mount Fay, and finally, to a newly unlocked area at The Cradle. Navigating through these locations involves significant platforming challenges. Upon finalizing the journey and speaking to Mr. Mushroom once more, players are faced with the daunting task of battling Lost Lace again. Following the primary ending sequence, players witness Mr. Mushroom departing with yet another “To Be Continued” message, reminiscent of the original Hollow Knight.
