At the onset of your adventure in Hollow Knight: Silksong, an early side quest named “The Lost Fleas”presents itself. This task involves locating and rescuing five lost fleas hidden within the expansive regions of Pharloom. While it might initially appear to be a simple collectibles mission akin to gathering Grubs in the original Hollow Knight, the rewards offered upon completion can significantly aid you during intense boss encounters, which are notably challenging in this game.
What’s advantageous about this quest is that it can be undertaken relatively early, specifically during Act 1, before you face the game’s most formidable foes. Therefore, this guide aims to expedite your quest by directing you to the locations of these five fleas as you progress in the main storyline. So grab your needle, and let’s dive in!
Initiating “The Lost Fleas”Quest

To unlock “The Lost Fleas”quest, exit Bone Bottom and navigate your way to Marrow. There, locate the Flea Caravan and converse with its master, Mooshka. This caravan is situated centrally in the Marrow area, and you won’t need any special abilities to access it.
Begin your journey from the Bone Bottom entrance, then ascend using the platforms directly above. Progress right until you encounter a vertical area that permits movement in both upward and downward directions. Opt for the downward path and enter the first opening on your left to meet Mooshka, along with Grishkin and Varga, who share a cozy spot with a bench. Upon speaking with Mooshka, he will inform you of their lost fleas scattered across Pharloom, awaiting your help. Accept the quest to embark on your mission.
Locating the Five Lost Fleas

Your primary task in “The Lost Fleas”quest is to track down five lost fleas, each typically trapped in precarious situations, either encased in walls or cages and often guarded by enemies. Notably, there are more than just five fleas scattered throughout the game—15 in total. Maintaining an exploratory mindset will aid significantly in this endeavor. However, achieving this quest early is highly beneficial, providing a reward that can give you an advantageous edge as you navigate Pharloom.
1. The Marrow

Your first flea can be found in close proximity to the Flea Caravan in one of the upper chambers of the Marrow. After defeating the Bell Beast, move right until you enter a large, open room. Activate the lever and ascend to the upper platform.
You’ll be faced with a platforming challenge paired with aerial enemies as you navigate to the upper right corner of the room where the flea is ensnared in vines. Patience and perseverance may be required, but following the designated path should lead you to success.
2. Deep Docks

The second flea awaits you soon after unlocking the Swift Step ability (dash), located in the upper area of Deep Docks. Rather than exiting the room, take a moment to familiarize yourself with your new ability here.
Ascend to the upper level of this chamber, employing your dashes to navigate the platforms. You’ll find the flea trapped within some dark eggs.
3. Hunter’s March

The third flea is located at the entrance of Hunter’s March, a small optional area connected to the Marrow. However, be wary of the formidable Skarrguard guarding this entrance. This mini-boss can be managed with your Swift Step ability, allowing you to dodge its heavy attacks.
After defeating it, proceed right through its arena to enter Hunter’s March. Follow the path laden with tricky platforms and bounce buds until you reach a juncture where you can ascend or continue right. Choose to go up the path with red buds (watch out for spikes!) to find a sleeping flea within a cage at the top.
4. Far Fields

The fourth flea is caught in a cage within a concealed passage along the right side of the primary Far Fields chamber. Enter from Deep Docks and head right into the next area. As you traverse, you’ll spot two red ants near a lantern on an overhead platform.
Defeat these foes (particularly the one wearing the skull hat), then make your way to the top by jumping up the platforms to reach the upper entrance. On the far right side, smash through the wall to unveil a hidden area and continue jumping upwards. Enter the first opening on your right, move right until Hornet becomes ensnared in a cage, swiftly break it free, and deal with the red ant that appears before heading right to release the flea from yet another cage.
5. Shellwood

For the fifth and final flea, prepare your platforming skills—this one will require precision! He is ensnared amid dangerous flora and spikes, so you must be swift and cautious. Ensure you have unlocked the Drifter’s Cloak to enable gliding.
From Shakra’s initial location in Shellwood, proceed directly to the right, striking white roses for boosts until you reach a decision point—choose to ascend or descend. Opt to ascend first until you reach another fork in the path. This time, go down while gliding, navigating carefully around the walls adorned with spikes and challenging flowers.
With good fortune, you will discover the delightful flea at the bottom, right next to Hornet.
Collecting Your Reward for Completing the “Lost Fleas”Quest

Congratulations! With all five fleas saved, return to the Flea Caravan in the Marrow and engage in conversation with Mooshka once more.
Mooshka will present an offer for you to travel with them—accept this offer (you can decline and choose later if necessary) to activate a brief cutscene, which reveals that their caravan has relocated to Greymoor, just past the Halfway Home tavern.
Once you arrive, Mooshka will instruct you to talk to Grishkin for an exciting surprise. Completing this task unlocks the Flea Brew, a red tool that enhances Hornet’s movement and attack speed, making forthcoming boss battles much more manageable. By increasing your attack frequency, you can quickly turn the tide in battle.
Once you have consumed your Flea Brew, returning to the Flea Caravan and speaking to Grishkin allows you to replenish it at no additional cost.
