Crests serve as pivotal elements that can greatly enhance your gameplay experience in Hollow Knight: Silksong. These unique items can significantly modify your attack speed, moveset, and overall playstyle, allowing players to customize their approach to challenges throughout the game.
Whether you prefer to strike slowly with powerful hits or execute rapid attacks, there’s a crest tailored to your desired combat style. Additionally, you can choose between utilizing tools or mastering Silk Skills. With such diverse options available, there’s a crest for everyone.
While some crests are readily available, others are cleverly hidden throughout the game’s expansive world. If you’re striving to collect all the Crests and achieve 100% completion, join me as I guide you to their locations.
Hunter Crest

Your journey begins with the Hunter’s Crest, which is automatically equipped at the start of Hornet’s quest. While it may initially seem underwhelming, it’s the only crest eligible for upgrades.
The Hunter’s Crest can be enhanced twice by visiting Eva in Weavenest Atla, with upgrades dependent on the number of Memory Lockets utilized during your play. If you have plenty of these items, consider upgrading for improved performance.
Once fully upgraded, the Hunter’s Crest grants you a focus meter that accumulates damage and enhances your attack power, although being hit resets the meter to zero. This Evolved Crest is ideal for players who excel at evading enemy attacks and prefer a more deliberate playstyle, remaining effective throughout the game.
Reaper Crest

The Reaper Crest is another early-game item located in Greymoor, just before your encounter with Moorwing. This crest alters your attack style to a slower but more forceful strike, allowing for downward slashes instead of diagonal hits.
Binding with this crest enables you to siphon silk wisps from enemies, expediting the recharge of your silk meter. Although fights may take longer, this crest significantly enhances your survivability.
Found in the Chapel in the western region of Greymoor, just south of Yarnaby, obtaining a crest acts as a hard save. If you find yourself struggling against Moorwing, consider acquiring this crest to simplify your encounter.
Wanderer Crest

If you enjoyed the combat style of the original protagonist from Hollow Knight, the Wanderer Crest might be your perfect fit. It enables a series of rapid slashes, although with reduced range. Mastering distance management against enemies can turn this crest into a powerhouse.
Additionally, it offers a high crit chance when your silk meter is filled, allowing for swift victories. Pairing this crest with the Longclaw tool can help alleviate its limitations.
To locate this crest, head to the Chapel west of Bone Bottom Town, where you will need the Cling Grip to ascend the tall wall in the decrepit building.
Beast Crest

The Beast Crest presents a learning curve due to its complex moveset, yet it can be extremely powerful in skilled hands. It provides a passive lifesteal ability, allowing you to heal with every enemy strike. However, its down attack can be quite challenging to utilize effectively, particularly during pogo maneuvers, and it lacks blue tool slots, limiting its versatility.
You can discover this crest in the eastern part of Hunter’s March, but be prepared to defeat the Savage Beastfly first.
Witch Crest

The Witch Crest is more challenging to obtain and is available only after you reach Act 2. You can earn this crest by completing the Infestation Operation quest, during which you combine with a twisted bud.
Start this quest in Bilewater, near the exit of Whispering Vaults, where you will encounter Greyroot in Shellwood.
If you aim for a secret ending, defeat Grand Mother Silk while still being infested by the bud. This crest features a distinctive moveset, allowing for double-hits on enemies and quick silk collection. It requires practice to master, but it’s incredibly useful in challenging arena rooms such as High Halls.
Architect Crest

If you find yourself running low on Cogflies but love to spam them, the Architect’s Crest is here to help. This crest transforms your main weapon into a drill and allows you to equip three red tools, enabling on-the-spot crafting.
While acquiring this crest requires 25 different tools and costs 110 rosaries for purchasing the Architect Key, the benefits can far outweigh the effort.
To bind this crest for yourself, head northwest from the Architect’s location to access a new area.
Shaman Crest

The Shaman Crest, the final one on our list, can only be uncovered in Act 3 and is well-hidden. Acquiring it requires the Silk Soar ability to navigate the obstacles in its path.
This crest boasts two blue slots and is particularly effective with tools like the Volt Filament, which provides lightning damage, and the Egg of Flealia, reducing the silk cost for skills when at full health.
To reclaim this crest, make your way to the far east of the ruined chapel. From there, use Silk Soar to ascend through the ceiling near the lore tablet. Continue along the path until you uncover the crest.
