Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition in Development Will Add 10-15 Hours of New Content
Last year, Hogwarts Legacy, an expansive RPG set in the Harry Potter realm, captivated gamers globally. Within a mere two weeks, it sold over 12 million copies and surpassed Call of Duty in sales, securing its position as the top-selling video game in the US for 2023. As enthusiasts eagerly anticipate a sequel from Avalanche Software, it appears that additional content for the original game is currently in development.
According to insights from the well-known leaker Tom Henderson (insider-gaming), the studio is preparing to launch a “Definitive Edition” of Hogwarts Legacy. Sources in dialogue with Henderson indicated that this strategic move aims to bolster Warner Bros.’ dwindling revenues following the underwhelming debut of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which resulted in a staggering $200 million loss for the company.
The report suggests that the Definitive Edition will feature an array of content, including a new storyline quest, side missions, various activities, and additional outfits. This forthcoming material is expected to provide players with an extra 10 to 15 hours of gameplay. For reference, according to “HowLongtoBeat,”completing the main quest of Hogwarts Legacy generally takes about 26 hours at a relaxed pace.
The anticipated release of the Definitive Edition is set for 2025. This version will be available as a standalone package, which will include the base game alongside an optional DLC for existing players. The pricing for this DLC upgrade is not finalized yet, but it is likely to fall within the range of $20 to $30.
As always, it’s wise to approach this information cautiously until an official confirmation is provided by Warner Bros. Games or Avalanche Software.
Furthermore, it recently came to light that Warner Bros. is exploring opportunities to license its intellectual properties—such as Harry Potter, Batman, and Justice League—to external development studios as part of efforts to recoup losses from the Suicide Squad release. As of now, there have been no announcements from any third-party developers.
