The life simulation genre is set to grow with a new title that captures the enchanting essence of a beloved fantasy realm. Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of The Rings Game was initially expected to be released in 2024; however, it has now been rescheduled for a 2025 launch. The development team at Wētā Workshop has confirmed a specific release date: March 25, 2025.
In typical life sim fashion, players will start by crafting their own hobbit character from the ground up. In addition to standard customization options, fans can look forward to unique choices such as foot-hair styles, meticulously designed to align with the source material.
Upon entering the game, players will immerse themselves in Bywater, a new village within the Shire. As a hobbit settling into this charming locale, players will have the basic necessities to kickstart their adventure. Key activities will include farming, fishing, foraging, and creating delightful meals through intricate recipes, all aimed at impressing visiting guests.
The primary allure of this tranquil title lies in fostering relationships with fellow hobbits, each offering numerous ways to build friendships and providing diverse bonuses in the process.
“Wētā Workshop has been a steward of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth for over 25 years, and during this time, we have developed a profound appreciation for the lore and a true passion for Middle-earth that is evident in our creative endeavors across film, collectibles, and now, our cozy simulation games,” states Richard Taylor, co-founder and CEO of Wētā Workshop. “
Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Netflix Games on March 25, 2025.
