On October 18, the highly anticipated reality survival show from JTBC, titled Project 7, premiered its first two episodes. This engaging competition attracted 200 aspiring contestants from various parts of the globe; however, the count dropped to 199 after the exit of Jung Jo-han.

After the initial assessment phase, only half of the participants, totaling 100, will continue in the subsequent episodes of the survival series. Hosted by the renowned South Korean model and actor Lee Soo-hyuk, the program aims to form a global K-pop boy group consisting of seven talented members. The judging panel is equally remarkable.

The distinguished artists serving as judges on Project 7 include Miyeon, Moon Byul, Lee Dae Hwi, Woo Hyun, Hui, Yoo Hwe-seung, and Shin Yumi. In addition, renowned directors such as Ryan Jhun, Lee Hae-in, Ha Sung-woon, RYUD, and Bada Lee will mentor the contestants, equipping them with essential skills in singing, dancing, and performance.

Project 7 features a unique voting system that differentiates it from typical survival shows. Fans can participate in the voting via the Weverse app, utilizing two distinct voting methods. One option is the Individual vote, allowing fans to select their favored contestants, while the Assembly vote enables fans to assemble teams by choosing 14 trainees for each upcoming round.

The release of the initial episodes has generated considerable excitement among fans eager to witness the unfolding journey of these contestants. Among the participants are many familiar faces from previous survival shows or members of past K-pop boy groups. Audiences are especially keen to observe whether these known personalities will secure a chance to debut alongside impressive new talents.

Key Highlights from the First Two Episodes of JTBC’s Reality Survival Show, Project 7

The launch of Project 7 on October 18 introduced viewers to its first two episodes, showcasing the debuts of 200 male trainees as they performed for the esteemed judges. Due to the large number of contestants, not every performance could be featured in the initial episodes.

Notably, contestant Ma Jing Xiang drew attention from netizens as he previously appeared on the survival series Boys Planet and was a member of the Chinese boy group Midsummer Cubs. In Project 7, he expressed his determination and hard work aimed at achieving his debut, especially after his earlier elimination from Boys Planet.

For his evaluation, he delivered a rendition of THE BOYZ’s “Maverick.”Another trainee, Yeojun, a friend of ZEROBASEONE member Gunwook, also stood out, with fans praising several noteworthy performances in the first evaluation round.

Audience members particularly enjoyed Yichen’s interpretation of NCT DREAM’s “Beatbox,”as well as Thai trainees Santa and Petch’s cover of GOT7’s “Girls Girls Girls.”Additional notable performances included Shin Jae-won’s take on NCT U’s “90s Love”and Kang Hyun-woo’s rendition of ATEEZ’s “Wonderland.”Following this evaluation segment, the first round of contestant rankings was unveiled.

After each round and once the global voting concludes, a ranking showcasing the top seven contestants is announced. Here are the initial rankings:
