After three decades of shaping the gaming landscape with iconic titles such as the Devil May Cry series and the beloved Dragon’s Dogma RPG, director Hideaki Itsuno has embarked on a new journey following his departure from Capcom in August 2023. Although details about his future projects were initially unclear, recent announcements have confirmed his exciting new role at a subsidiary of Tencent.

Launch of LightSpeed Japan Studio

Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios has successfully recruited Itsuno to spearhead a brand-new AAA action game. To facilitate this endeavor, Lightspeed has established the LightSpeed Japan Studio, which will operate from offices in both Tokyo and Osaka.

Innovations in Game Development

As the lead at the new studio, Itsuno aims to “push the boundaries of new game creation,” aligning with the studio’s ambition to redefine gaming experiences. The announcement highlighted that Itsuno will be joined by a seasoned team of developers, though many positions remain open for aspiring talents at the studio’s locations in Osaka and Tokyo.

Perspectives from Leadership

We welcome all talented and passionate game creators from around the world to join our vision.”
