“He’s on his period, he needs to grow up” – When Michael Bisping put Chris Weidman on blast for his PED accusation
In 2016, Chris Weidman made a baseless claim against Michael Bisping, accusing the newly crowned UFC middleweight champion of using Performance-enhancing drugs (PED). Naturally, Bisping was angered by the accusation.
Despite being asked by TMZ for his thoughts on the accusation, Bisping refused to hold back. He stood up for himself and went on to suggest that Weidman may be envious of his achievements in winning the title that Weidman himself once held as an unbeaten All-American.
“I think it’s ridiculous. Just because I beat someone that he couldn’t beat, all of a sudden I’m on steroids. I’ve been tested more than anybody else in the history of the UFC. I’ve been in the UFC for 11 years, I’ve never tested positive and he just needs to get a grip, being a little p***y. He’s on his period, he needs to grow up.”
Watch as Michael Bisping confidently denies Chris Weidman’s claims of PED use (0:30):
Bisping’s perspective was that Weidman was unable to come to terms with his knockout of Luke Rockhold, who had previously dealt him his initial defeat through a brutal TKO. Bisping remained critical of Weidman, noting that he never fully bounced back from the loss and instead experienced a rough patch that defined his career.
Despite being removed from the divisional rankings, Weidman has struggled since. Although he has achieved occasional wins, his luck took a turn for the worse when he suffered a brutal leg break at UFC 261, further highlighting his vulnerability to knockout losses.
Luckily, he has since regained his health and returned to the octagon.
Chris Weidman’s Controversial Victory Over Bruno Silva Due to Eye Poke
Despite delivering a strong performance, Chris Weidman’s third-last bout at UFC Atlantic City was marred by his numerous eye pokes against Brazilian opponent, Bruno Silva. The former middleweight champion’s fouls were not penalized, causing controversy and overshadowing his impressive performance.
Take a look at the video of Chris Weidman accidentally poking Bruno Silva in the eye:
Instead, despite being poked in the eye, Silva continued to fall to the mat, causing the referee to incorrectly deem it a knockdown and award Weidman a TKO victory. However, upon reviewing the fight footage, the outcome of the bout was controversially changed from a unanimous decision to a no-contest.
