“He wants smoke”: Former Warriors guard debunks Steph Curry’s “good guy” image

Despite being an NBA journeyman who won championships with both the Golden State Warriors in 2018 and the LA Lakers in 2020, Quinn Cook, former teammate of Steph Curry’s, still had plenty of time to observe and analyze Curry’s on-field image during their two seasons together with the Warriors.

Cook was among the players who earned a championship alongside the modern-day NBA’s most prolific shooter. During his appearance on the Captain Jack Podcast, Quinn refuted the notion that Curry is universally seen as a “good guy.”

“I had a relationship with him because I played with his brother at Duke. I think the media paints him as a “good guy”, which he ism and he’s unbelievable. But he’s competitive. He wants smoke.”

Despite his reserved demeanor on the court, Curry has never been afraid to speak his mind. While he refrains from getting involved in confrontations and physical altercations with other players, a trait his teammates Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are known for, it is clear that the four-time NBA champion possesses a strong competitive drive.

The Iconic Moment: Steph Curry’s Ring Gesture in the 2022 NBA Finals vs Boston Celtics

Steph Curry’s unwavering belief in his skills is a major factor in his dominance. This was clearly demonstrated when he fearlessly executed a daring move in Game 6 of the NBA Finals while playing away against the Boston Celtics.

As Curry took charge and increased the Golden State Warriors’ lead in the second half, he made a gesture towards the crowd at the TD Garden, indicating that he desired to add a fourth NBA championship ring to his collection.

It is evident from Quinn’s statement that Curry’s competitive drive was on full display, as he managed to accomplish it midway into the third quarter.

Despite consistent struggles, Curry and the Warriors have managed to maintain a place in the Western Conference, currently holding the tenth spot with a record of 39-34 and remaining contenders for the play-in tournament.

The Dubs are currently one game ahead of the 11th-placed Houston Rockets and two games behind the ninth-placed LA Lakers. If they were to lose a few games in their remaining schedule, their hopes of making it to the playoffs would diminish.

Despite uncertainties, it is yet to be determined if Steph Curry will be able to handle the pressure and lead the Warriors to the playoffs, ultimately securing a fifth championship for the team.
