“He Got What He Asked For”: Gene Deal Discusses Diddy’s Possible Involvement in Nipsey Hussle’s Death
Gene Deal, who previously served as a bodyguard for Sean “Diddy” Combs, recently engaged in an interview with The Art of Dialogue, where he reflected on Combs’ connection with the late rapper, Nipsey Hussle. During the conversation, Deal appeared to allude to Diddy’s potential involvement in Hussle’s tragic death, a claim that has yet to be validated by any law enforcement agency.
In his interview dated October 12, Gene Deal spoke highly of Nipsey Hussle, describing him as a “child of God.” He recounted that Hussle had expressed to Combs his desire for his music to convey a sense of “life after death.”Deal remarked:
“He [Nipsey Hussle] was already doing an amazing job with his team. But someone persuaded him that working with Sean Combs would be a beneficial move for him. But, no disrespect, he got what he asked for.”
For those unfamiliar, Nipsey Hussle was tragically shot outside his store, Marathon Clothing, in Los Angeles, sustaining 10 gunshot wounds. He was just 33 years old at the time of his untimely death, leaving behind his partner Lauren London and two children.
“Be cautious of your words”: Gene Deal on Nipsey Hussle’s bond with Diddy
Gene Deal revealed that Nipsey Hussle had previously met Diddy and articulated his aspiration for his music to evoke the essence of “life after death.” Deal noted that at that stage in his career, Diddy was providing some assistance to Hussle. He further stated:
“Here you have a spiritual individual asking for something… Biggie was murdered, yet he went on to sell around 10 million records. I believe you need to be careful with what you say to demons, as it may just come to fruition.”

Combs featured on the track “Young N**ga”from Hussle’s Victory Lap album. In a September 2022 interview with The Real 92.3’s The Cruz Show, Combs fondly reminisced about his relationship with Hussle:
“He came to me and said, ‘Yo man, I would like you to mentor me.’ Nip had no ego. He approached me asking for guidance in real estate and wanted to learn all my business insights! I told him that whenever he had questions, he could come over! … We were growing very close when everything transpired.”
Additionally, Nipsey Hussle’s partner, Lauren London, shared her experiences after his passing, indicating that Combs provided her support during that challenging time. In July 2022, while appearing on the Angie Martinez IRL podcast, London disclosed:
“Puff took me aside and said, ‘Look Boog. You’ve demonstrated to everyone what it means to support and love a man. Now, show them how to handle it when everything falls apart. That’s your duty.’ He told me, ‘Hold your head high.’”
At present, Sean Combs is incarcerated as he awaits his trial set for May 5, 2025, facing serious charges including human trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.
