“He couldn’t breathe” – Marat Grigorian breaks down his soul-crushing body shot KO of rival Sitthichai
Marat Grigorian explained that Sitthichai was unable to breathe after being struck with a body shot.
In the middle of 2023, Grigorian’s bid to overthrow Chingiz Allazov as the ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion fell short. To regroup, the ex-Glory Kickboxing world champion took some time to strategize and made a comeback on January 28th in an exciting catchweight fight against Sitthichai.
Despite suffering four previous losses to Sitthichai in other promotions, including three under the Glory banner, Grigorian’s determination for revenge remained unwavering. At ONE 165, the Armenian-born fighter finally achieved his goal by knocking out the Thai in round three.
In an interview with ONE, Grigorian shared his thoughts on the impact of knocking the breath out of Sitthichai:
“The body shot was really good, on point. It was just good timing to throw it out, just as he was just taking a deep breath. And at the time I got him on his ribs. So that was really hard. I saw it in his eyes that he couldn’t breathe for 20 or 30 seconds.”

Marat Grigorian seeks redemption in highly-anticipated ONE Championship rematch against Superbon
At the upcoming ONE Friday Fights 58, Marat Grigorian will have the chance to capitalize on his victory over Sitthichai and potentially claim the title of ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion. However, he will first have to overcome the ever-dangerous Superbon in the main event.
This won’t mark the first encounter between Grigorian and Superbon, as Grigorian previously defeated the Thai champion in just 29 seconds in a different organization. However, Superbon was able to avenge his defeat in March 2022, defeating Grigorian by unanimous decision at ONE X.
A must-see rematch will be held later this week for them to settle the score.
On Friday, the 58th edition of ONE Friday Fights will take place at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The event, which includes two world title fights, will be available for viewing through pay-per-view on watch.onefc.com.
