Hayley Williams Responds to Accusation of Reading Script in Anti-Trump Speech: “Just Out Here Kicking A** for Free”

Hayley Williams has once again captured attention in the media after a social media user criticized her, claiming that she was reading from a script during her speech at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, where she voiced her opposition to Donald Trump and Project 2025.

The user on X, @Nicksortor, posted a clip of Williams’ performance alongside his accusations that she was indeed reading a script. He further questioned whether she was “paid or blackmailed.” The user remarked:

“Remember the video of Paramore’s Hayley Williams criticizing Trump and spreading misinformation about ‘Project 2025′ on stage? Yeah, turns out she was reading a SCRIPT. Who gave it to her? Was she paid or blackmailed? NONE of this stuff is genuine! These ‘celebrities’ are merely given anti-Trump talking points to relay to their fans. It’s all a big show.”

In response to the allegations, Hayley Williams swiftly addressed the claims. She posted a screenshot of the user’s comment on Instagram, stating:

“Whoever you are, I typed out my speech and had a crew member hold it near the camera for me in case I got nervous because what I had to say was important and I didn’t want to trip up in the moment. I didn’t end up looking at it though; that’s because I prepared.”

Williams continued:

“Finally, not only was I not paid to give the speech, but we (Paramore) did not get paid to perform at that radio festival either. Just out here kicking a*s for free, I guess. Thanks so much for your concern and for spelling my name right, bye!”

This entire incident began when Hayley Williams called on voters to reflect carefully before casting their votes. She emphasized that Americans should “band together and finally defeat the Trump agenda.”

During her powerful speech, Williams stated:

“Project 2025 is Donald Trump’s playbook for controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community. It is time for all Americans to band together and finally defeat the Trump agenda. And the only way to do that is by confronting him at the polls. Do you want to live in a dictatorship? Well, show up and vote!”

The former President and his representatives have not yet responded to the remarks made by the Paramore frontwoman.

The US presidential elections are scheduled for November 5, 2024, a day when citizens will vote for the next President, with Donald Trump and Kamala Harris running against each other. It is noteworthy that initially Joe Biden was expected to contest against the former President, but he has since withdrawn and endorsed Harris.
