
The official cancellation of the upcoming project Deception has been announced, resulting in the departure of Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol from the cast. The production company confirmed on April 2 that the two actors will not be appearing together in the show.
Following their recent break up, the focus has shifted to whether Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol will still join hands for the project. Their respective management agencies had previously confirmed that the two were reviewing the offer, but now it remains to be seen if they will both be cast in the drama together.
According to Showbox representatives, talks regarding their appearance have come to a halt. They stated,
“Discussions about Ryu Jun-yeol and Han So-hee’s appearance in ‘Deception’ have been halted. It is true that we discussed casting, but since it was not a confirmed issue, we naturally decided to stop discussions.”
Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol decline lead roles in Deception
At first, the project’s two stars were discussing and evaluating their potential lead roles. However, following the couple’s breakup announcement, the production company revealed that they will not be starring in the project.
Based on a webtoon of the same name, Deception takes place in 1935 Gyeongseong and 1800s Shanghai. This horror period comic portrays a vampire tale set in the Japanese colonial period of 1935. The planning and production of the project will be carried out by Magnum Nine and Showbox.
The webtoon portrays the events that unfold when artist Yun Iho (who was initially offered to Ryu Jun-yeol) is hired to create a portrait for a mysterious woman, Song Jeong-hwa (who was originally offered to Han So-hee).
The production agency has affirmed that the project will proceed as scheduled. The format of Deception, whether it will be a film or a drama, remains to be officially confirmed.
The project, directed by Han Jae-rim, is gaining widespread recognition due to his impressive track record in films such as Emergency Declaration, The King, Rules of Dating, and more. Additionally, Han Jae-rim is also the writer and director of the highly anticipated Netflix drama The 8 Show, which will feature a star-studded cast including Ryu Jun-yeol, Chun Woo-hee, Park Jung-min, Bae Sung-woo, Park Hae-joon, and more.
The end of a relationship: Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol’s split
The media agency Dispatch sparked relationship rumors between Han So-hee and Ryu Jun-yeol after they were seen together in Hawaii. On March 16, 2024, the Nevertheless actress confirmed their relationship with a detailed blog post, addressing her romance with the Reply 1988 actor. Their rumored romance has been making headlines ever since.
Despite the fact that 15 days had passed, their agencies finally confirmed that the two had chosen to end their relationship and prioritize their acting careers.
9ATO Entertainment has issued a statement regarding their falling out, stating that…
“Han So Hee and actor Ryu Jun Yeol have broken up. They realized that their roles as actors are greater. They have promised not to waste any emotions on personal matters any longer. Han So Hee has made both herself and the public suffer due to her personal feelings all this time. The way she communicated [with the public] was not right.”
