Halsey, the renowned singer-songwriter recognized for hits such as “Be Kind,”recently provided a health update to fans after being hospitalized due to a seizure. This incident has sparked concerns among their followers, leading Halsey to openly address their ongoing health challenges and conditions.
In June 2024, Halsey publicly announced their diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disorder where the immune system erroneously attacks the body’s own tissues. They were also diagnosed with a rare illness called T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder, characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of white blood cells, resulting in various health complications.
The artist’s health journey encompasses several other diagnoses, including bipolar disorder, endometriosis, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), Sjögren’s syndrome, and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).
On September 25, 2024, the singer, who prefers she/they pronouns, shared a video on Instagram from their hospital bed, with fiancé Avan Jogia by their side.
“Happy Late Bi Visibility Day. This year I’m celebrating by dying with a man by my side (for legal reasons that’s a joke),”they quipped.
In the video, Halsey, with an IV in their arm, gestures a peace sign while expressing their disappointment about disrupted plans for the day.
Halsey shares health updates through a Q&A session on X
Later that day, Halsey connected with fans in a Q&A session on X, addressing questions about their health.
“I’m home from the hospital now after a few days, so a win is a win!”they shared.
When questioned if the hospitalization was connected to their chronic health issues, Halsey candidly revealed that they had a “scary”seizure and remarked that it was not an experience they would “recommend.”
This incident follows the singer’s earlier announcements regarding their health struggles. In June 2024, they disclosed their diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus, an ongoing autoimmune condition, alongside a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.
Both conditions can significantly affect one’s quality of life.
In the prior post, the singer explained that they were managing these diseases effectively.
“In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life,”they stated.
