Grammy-nominated artist Halsey has recently opened up about a shocking experience involving a “very powerful executive”who reportedly accessed her private photos without her consent.
During her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast on October 30, 2024, the New Jersey-born singer, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, described the unsettling moment as one where she felt “frozen,”recalling how the high-profile executive accessed her n*de pictures without her permission while using her phone —
“I was just frozen. I was like, ‘Did I just imagine that? Was that an accident? Did the phone scroll up? What the heck just happened?”she recounted.
Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, more popularly known as Halsey, is an accomplished American singer, songwriter, and actress born on September 29, 1994. She has gained recognition for her impactful music career, with notable hits like Closer, Without Me, Bad at Love, Graveyard, and New Americana that resonate with her audience.
Halsey discusses alleged incident with music executive
In a candid segment on the Call Her Daddy podcast hosted by Alex Cooper, Halsey reflected on a disturbing experience she had with a nameless executive from the music industry.
The singer elaborated that the incident happened a few years back while she was socializing with the influential executive —
“I had a really strange situation a couple years ago. I guess it was quite a long time ago, but I was out and I was with this executive, this really powerful executive who works in music in some capacity,”Halsey explained.
Halsey recounted the tense moment leading up to the privacy violation. The unnamed executive had requested to take a selfie with her. After snapping the picture, she gave him her phone to send the images to himself while she stepped away to use the restroom —
“I took a selfie of the two of us and I handed him my phone and I was like, ‘Text it to yourself. I have to pee,”she explained.
Upon returning, Halsey noticed the executive was holding her phone in a way that obscured the screen. She quickly realized he had been browsing through her private pictures — she wondered whether he had sent the images to himself or taken any additional actions regarding them —
“And then I went to the bathroom and when I came back, he handed me my phone like this. And I saw he was going through my n*des on my phone.. . I don’t even know where these are now,”Halsey continued.
This dialogue emerged as part of the podcast discussion where host Alex Cooper explored the sexual dynamics present in the entertainment industry.
Elaborating on her experience, Halsey emphasized that the incident occurred during a time when she felt empowered, having personal security, and was taken aback by the invasive behavior —
“I’m in this situation where I have so much power. I have a bodyguard and I have, you know… And then this invasive thing just happens on a whim,”she reflected.
Ultimately, Halsey characterized the situation as deeply “demoralizing,”expressing that it left her feeling like any other woman whose vulnerabilities had been exploited. While she has faced numerous challenges throughout her career, she found this particular incident to be particularly striking, describing her reaction as “nonchalant.”
The singer-songwriter recently released her fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator, on October 25, 2024, which features 18 tracks.
