Halo Infinite multiplayer Battle Passes cost $10 each, feature non-canon rewards

Halo Infinite is an upcoming first-person shooter from 343 Industries. The game has been in development for a number of years, and uses a new engine to provide wide-open areas for you to explore during the campaign. While the campaign is paid, the multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite is free to play, but there will be paid Battle Passes that offer unique cosmetic rewards such as samurai armor.

Recently, 343 Industries’ Head of Design Jerry Hook and Lead Progression Designer Chris Blohm sat down with IGN for an interview about the multiplayer Battle Passes. However, contrary to what other shooters like Destiny 2 do, Halo Infinite will feature permanent Battle Passes so you never feel obligated to play the game if you don’t want to.

The two went on to say that Halo Infinite‘s Battle Passes never expire, but you can only have one active at a time. You can switch between which one you want to make progress on. An added incentive to go back and complete previous paid Battle Passes is that they’ll feature Legendary rewards that don’t fit into Halo canon, such as the aforementioned samurai armor.

Blohm and Hook revealed that the Halo Infinite Battle Passes will cost $10 each. Given how traditional Battle Passes work in other games, there’s probably going to be a new one every three to four months.

Halo Infinite will launch on December 8, 2021 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The campaign costs $59.99 on the Microsoft Store, but it’ll be a part of Xbox Game Pass at launch. Xbox Game Pass costs $10 a month on consoles and $5 a month on PC. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate bundles EA Play, Xbox Game Pass on both platforms, Xbox Live Gold, and Xbox Cloud Gaming together for $15 a month.
