Halle Berry Remembers Prince’s Concert Invitation: “I Kept the Paper” from His Date Proposal
Halle Berry reminisced about the moment when the iconic Prince asked her out on a date, an intriguing encounter she detailed during her appearance on the September 23 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The late music legend sent her a note during one of his concerts, prompting a lively discussion.
The topic of Prince arose when talk show host Jimmy Kimmel inquired about a rumor suggesting that Michael Jackson had enlisted Babyface to help him in asking Halle Berry on a date. Berry humorously responded:
“I don’t know, but I know Prince asked me out on a date.”
As Kimmel pressed for more details regarding Prince’s romantic advance and whether it occurred in person, the Flintstones actress replied, “sort of.”She elaborated:
“I was at one of his concerts here on Sunset at the Key Club, and he had somebody come out with a piece of paper. And you know like kids do, you say, ‘Do you like me? Yes or no.’ I went, yes! I mean, I’m at his concert, right? Yes! Came back out again, ‘Would you go out with me?’”
Halle Berry confessed to Jimmy Kimmel that she did not respond to Prince’s note about their potential date.
“No, I didn’t send the paper back. I kept the paper,”she revealed.
Kimmel jokingly asked if he could have it and expressed amazement at the thought of Prince writing notes for Halle Berry “in between guitar solos.”
Halle Berry Addresses Deadpool vs. Wolverine Rumors
Following the entertaining anecdotes regarding Michael Jackson and Babyface, Halle Berry also clarified rumors about her potential involvement in the much-anticipated Deadpool vs. Wolverine film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
When Kimmel asked for her thoughts on the rumor, Berry mentioned that she too had “heard”about it. She recounted:
“I heard that from… let’s see, I was at a Michael Kors fashion show and Blake [Lively], Ryan’s wife, asked me, ‘If Ryan asked you to be in Deadpool, would you?’”
When Kimmel inquired if she would be interested in taking a role in Reynolds’ film, she responded, “Of course, I would.”However, she humorously noted that they had never reached out to her regarding a part, resulting in laughter between Berry and Kimmel.
Kimmel quipped that perhaps Blake Lively simply forgot to relay the message to Reynolds and Jackman, or that Lively “pulled a Prince,”humorously referencing Berry’s non-response to the legendary musician’s note.
In other news, Halle Berry stars in the new survival horror film Never Let Go, where she portrays a mother fighting to protect her twin sons in a dystopian world. The movie premiered in theaters across the United States on Friday, September 20, 2024.
