Supergiant Games, known for their remarkable storytelling and captivating gameplay, has officially revealed the release date for Hades II, marking a significant milestone as the studio’s first sequel. Initially released in early access over a year ago, this captivating rogue-like title has benefited from community feedback to refine its gameplay and content. With several updates enhancing its features, Hades II is set to transition from its early access phase to a full release.

Launch Date and Platforms

During the recent Nintendo Direct presentation, it was announced that Hades II version 1.0 will launch on multiple platforms, including PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, alongside the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. The official release is scheduled for September 26, 2024.

New Features and Enhancements

Since its debut in early access, Hades II has expanded with a wealth of new features. Players can look forward to:

  • New weapons, each featuring alternate forms
  • A diverse array of major and minor boss encounters
  • A multitude of new enemy types

Supergiant Games stated, “Hades II is our team’s first-ever sequel, and we’ve been giving it everything we’ve got for more than four and a half years. Since May of 2024, we’ve been developing in Early Access, taking feedback from our player community to try and fully realize this game’s potential. The result is the biggest game we’ve ever made, and one we hope you’ll find to be a worthy successor to its namesake.”

Cross-Platform Progression and Performance

The eagerly anticipated launch version of Hades II will introduce a multiplatform cross-save feature, enabling players to seamlessly switch between the Nintendo Switch and Steam versions while retaining their progress. This user-friendly setup is anticipated to elevate the gaming experience.

Performance-wise, the Nintendo Switch version of Hades II will run at a smooth 60FPS, while the upgraded Switch 2 will reach an impressive 120FPS in docked mode and maintain 60FPS in handheld mode.

Future Availability on Consoles

While the Switch platform will initially enjoy exclusive access to Hades II, it remains uncertain how long this exclusivity will last. Following the exclusivity period, the game is expected to release on Xbox and PlayStation platforms, similar to the original Hades.

For those eager to explore the underworld once again, mark your calendars for September 26, and prepare for an adventure like no other!
