Supergiant Games Advances with Hades 2 on Nintendo Switch 2
Supergiant Games has embarked on an exciting journey with its first sequel, developing a new rogue-like dungeon crawler set in the beloved Hades universe. Hades 2 has been in early access on PC for nearly a year, and the studio is now exploring additional platforms for its official launch at version 1.0. Recently, it was disclosed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be the sole new platform for the time being.
Exclusive Console Launch Announced
This exclusivity was highlighted in the latest episode of Creator’s Voice, a video series by Nintendo showcasing game developers and their innovations for Switch hardware. The closing card of the video announced that Hades 2 would “launch first for consoles on Nintendo Switch 2, ”with further details expected later this year.
As a result of this decision, gamers who prefer Xbox or PlayStation will have to wait longer to immerse themselves in this eagerly awaited title.
A Look Back at Hades’ Launch
The original iteration of Hades also underwent an early access phase on PC before eventually being launched on Switch in 2020, following its success on various other platforms including Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 about a year later. This successful rollout paved the way for Supergiant Games to adopt a similar strategy for its sequel.
Performance and Compatibility
In a recent announcement regarding Hades 2, Supergiant confirmed that the game will also be released on the original Nintendo Switch. Notably, both the new and original versions are designed to run at 60 FPS, although it remains uncertain if the Switch 2 exclusivity extends to the initial version.
Current Status of Hades 2
As of now, Hades 2 does not have an official launch date for its complete 1.0 release. The game remains accessible for players in early access on Steam, allowing fans to experience its development firsthand.
Future Exclusives and Anticipation
In addition to Hades 2, Nintendo has secured FromSoftware’s upcoming title, The Duskbloods, as an exclusive for the Switch 2. As we approach the console’s launch date on June 2, more announcements regarding exclusive titles are anticipated, further bolstering the appeal of the new platform.
