As you venture towards Mount Olympus in Hades 2, you will encounter a unique adversary that might evoke sympathy: Prometheus, the Titan of Foresight. Delving into the rich tapestry of Greek mythology, Prometheus stands out for his deep fascination with humanity. According to myth, he crafted people from clay, and his admiration for them compelled him to steal fire from the gods to uplift mankind.
This act of defiance angered Zeus, who punished Prometheus by binding him to Mount Kaukasos, where an eagle would consume his regenerating liver each day for eternity. For his intentions of aiding humanity, Prometheus faced cruel suffering, symbolizing the often-punishing relationship between the divine and mortals.
Now, in the unfolding events of Hades 2, Prometheus seeks vengeance against Zeus amidst Chronos’s surge to reclaim power over the gods. Unfortunately, it falls upon Melinoe to confront this Titan and prevent Chronos and his ranks from plunging the world into a perilous darkness. Here’s a guide on strategies to emerge victorious against Prometheus.
Preparing for the Battle Against Prometheus

First, let’s talk about Keepsakes. After defeating Eris, you’ll have the opportunity to change your Keepsake since Prometheus serves as the third guardian of the surface. If you possess some Armor and believe you can handle the upcoming challenges without significant hits, equip Arachne’s Silken Sash.
To inflict early damage, consider using Odysseus’ Knuckle Bones, which can reduce Prometheus’s health by 5% or 15%, depending on the item level. Should you run low on Death Defiance, Schelemeus’ Luckier Tooth will serve as a wise choice.
Collect Centaur Hearts and Soul Tonics to boost your maximum health and magical power. If you receive higher rarity Boons for your strike, special attack, or Cast, swapping them may be worthwhile, even if it means parting with your current Boons.
During my battle, I found the following Boons invaluable:
- Aphrodite’s Flutter Strike
- Poseidon’s Wave Flourish
- Aphrodite’s Rapture Ring
For weapon choice, I opted for the Black Coat (Xinth), enhanced with Selene’s Gift of the Moon Phase Shift.
Defeating Prometheus, the Titan of Foresight

Contrasting with the rapid pace of the Eris encounter, Prometheus’s attacks occur less frequently yet can deliver substantial damage when they connect. Thus, mastering the art of dodging his strikes while seizing opportunities to counterattack is essential.
In the initial phase, focus on understanding his distinctive moves, as he will utilize these techniques throughout the encounter. It’s crucial to familiarize yourself with his mechanics early on.
The second and third phases largely resemble each other, primarily involving the elimination of his summoned mobs before resuming your assault on the Titan.
From the second phase onward, Selene’s Gift of the Moon Night Bloom proves advantageous by summoning Satyrs to assist in dealing damage to Prometheus.
Once you effectively dodge his attacks with minimal damage, unleash your own assault to quickly wear down Prometheus’s health.
Phase 1: Confronting Prometheus

Attack | Description | Action |
---|---|---|
Eagle Attack | Prometheus sends his eagle toward Melinoe, following with two more attacks before launching gust projectiles in eight directions. | Dodge sideways during the eagle’s flight and move away during the gust attack. |
Ground Pound with Flame Ring | Executing an AoE attack, Prometheus jumps and slams down, creating a blue flame ring that remains for several seconds. | Evade when he jumps to escape the radius of the AoE and blue flames. |
Flame Trail | Prometheus trails red flames that explode into blue fire, damaging anyone caught within their vicinity. | Retreat to a corner to minimize the impact area of the flames, allowing enough time to dodge. |
Flame Vortex | Prometheus chases you briefly before conjuring a vortex of blue flames in your direction. | Escape to avoid the attack. |
Kick followed by Flame Arc | After a spin kick, he launches a blue flame arc, both of which can inflict significant damage. | Avoid the kick and dodge the flame arc as it approaches. |
Casting a Circle of Flames | Casts a ring of flames around you before unleashing blue fire across the entire area. | Move to a corner and dodge out once the ring is set. |
Dash and Punch | Prometheus dashes towards you to deliver a punch. | Dodge to avoid impact. |
Quickly adapt to Prometheus’s flame trail and circle of flames, as they can dominate the battlefield if not resolved swiftly. Avoid staying too long in the blue flames, as even brief contact can significantly chip away at your health.
When you witness Prometheus preparing to unleash these fiery attacks, swiftly retreat to a corner for maximum safety. Given his slower attack speed in this initial phase, you can afford to dash in, use your Cast and strike, then evade before he retaliates.
Once he loses approximately 33% of his health, he’ll leap out of the arena, signaling the transition to the second phase.
Phase 2: Continuing the Fight

Attack | Description | Action |
---|---|---|
Triple Trails of Flame | Prometheus leaps out and fires three fire trails consecutively, which can cause massive damage. | Observe the order of trails and stand in the remaining clear path to evade damage. |
Summoning Satyr Sappers | Three Satyr Sappers attack by hurling projectiles at you. | Dispatch the Satyrs before refocusing on Prometheus. |
The triple trail of flames is a one-off attack and becomes easier with experience. Only one new move enters this phase: the Satyr summons. While they may seem troublesome initially, efficient use of your Cast and Specials can keep you in control.
It is vital to know that Prometheus can now combine previous moves, meaning you must be vigilant as he can deploy his eagle, then trap you with a punch or summon a vortex while you focus on dodging. Once his health dips below 33%, he will once again leave the arena, transitioning to the next phase.
Phase 3: The Climax

Attack | Description | Action |
---|---|---|
Penta Trails of Flame | Prometheus now conjures five fire trails instead of three. | Remain aware of the sequence and position yourself accordingly to avoid flames. |
Summoning Satyr Goldpike | Prometheus brings forth three Satyr Goldpikes, who attack by throwing spears. | Clear the Satyrs before resuming your focus on Prometheus. |
The finale is quite similar to the previous phase, but the addition of two more flame trails makes vigilance essential. If you lose track of the order, prioritize standing in the middle until it is safe to dodge to the clear lanes.
Keep in mind that the Satyrs will be equipped with shields, requiring you to attack from behind to inflict damage. Instead of taking them down individually, maintain your mobility while dodging Prometheus’s onslaught—yielding a safer yet lengthier fight.
