Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Scott Anderson’s marital timeline explored amid her separation announcement 3 months after prison release

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, known for her experience as a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy and her subsequent incarceration due to her mother’s actions, has revealed that she and her husband Ryan Scott Anderson have separated.

Blanchard and Anderson’s connection began through correspondence while she was incarcerated, as she exchanged letters with the Louisiana-based social studies teacher. In the 2024 documentary series, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, Anderson disclosed that their initial contact was the result of a deal he had made with his friend.

Based on the documentary, Anderson challenged his friend, who was a fan of the Netflix series Tiger King, to write to Joe Exotic, with the understanding that Ryan would then write to Gypsy Rose Blanchard as well.

Upon receiving the letter, Blanchard immediately noticed something. In the documentary, she commented:

“The thing that stuck out the most about Ryan’s letter is not only how genuine it came across, but also how funny he is. His sense of humor was great,”

After Blanchard broke up with the guy she was dating, she began pursuing Anderson. After a year, Anderson finally visited Blanchard at the Chillicothe Correctional Center. In the docuseries, Gypsy expressed that she found Ryan even more attractive in person than in his pictures.

“We had this connection that seemed so seamless, so easy. This is something I never thought that I would have after everything that has happened,”

Four months later, Blanchard contacted Ryan and admitted that she had strong feelings for him. In response, Ryan confessed that he had been in love with her for quite some time.

Three visits later, Ryan managed to sneak an engagement ring into prison hidden in his necklace and proposed to Blanchard. She happily accepted and the couple had a modest prison wedding in July 2022.

After Blanchard’s release in December of that year, she eagerly posted about special moments with Anderson on social media, eagerly anticipating a traditional wedding ceremony and looking forward to their future together. Nonetheless, her parole stipulations resulted in the deactivation of her public social media profiles, and the unexpected announcement has caught many off guard.
