ArenaNet Reveals New Elite Specializations for Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity
In an exciting announcement today, ArenaNet introduced the next set of elite specializations for the highly anticipated expansion, Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity. Following the earlier reveal of the Troubadour, Galeshot, and Luminary specializations, this reveal focuses on three new exciting specializations: the Paragon, Antiquary, and Ritualist.
The Ritualist: A Tribute to the Past
The Ritualist is an elite specialization for the Necromancer, drawing inspiration from the beloved original Guild Wars profession of the same name. Players can expect to wield weapon spells that enhance the capabilities of nearby allies. Moreover, the Ritualist has the unique ability to summon powerful spirits—Anguish, Wanderlust, and Preservation—that will fiercely assist in attacking adversaries.
Antiquary: Artifacts and Unpredictability
Next, we have the Antiquary, which serves as the new elite specialization for the Thief. Emphasizing their role as seekers of rare artifacts, Antiquaries utilize a skill known as Pilfer
to enlist the help of their cunning Skritt companions. This allows them to steal from enemies, crafting random improvised weapons. This specialization introduces a layer of complexity as players can activate unique skills while on cooldown, though this carries the risk of negative effects—a gamble that could either be rewarding or disastrous in the heat of battle.
The Paragon: A Protector’s Might
Finally, we spotlight the Paragon, a dynamic new elite specialization for the Warrior. Armed with a spear and shield, these defenders of Elona channel their motivation resource by employing various burst skills. This motivation can then be transformed into powerful vocal shouts including chants, refrains, commands, and echoes. The influence of these vocal powers can significantly impact the battlefield, either inflicting damage on foes or providing crucial support to allies.
What’s Next for Guild Wars 2
Looking ahead, ArenaNet is expected to unveil the final trio of elite specializations for the remaining classes—the Revenant, Engineer, and Elementalist—next week. For fans marking their calendars, Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity is set for release on October 28. This update promises not only new elite specifications but also invites players to explore a host of fresh zones, engage in new raid encounters, tackle a new Fractal, and navigate a new Convergence event. Additional features include a new Homestead map, three Mastery tracks for the Skimmer aquatic mount, and a variety of new armor, weapons, legendaries, and relics. The overarching narrative will delve into the Inquest’s dark plans surrounding the island of Castora.
