Minecraft commands open up a world of possibilities, enabling players to modify various aspects of the game. With these straightforward commands, you can introduce or eliminate structures, flatten terrain, add visual effects, and customize your environment extensively. A notable command is /fog, which lets you create a fog layer within your game world.
This guide will walk you through the steps to utilize the fog command in Minecraft. Please be aware that this command is exclusive to the Bedrock Edition, and won’t function in the Java Edition.
How to Enable Commands in Minecraft
Before you can use the /fog command or any other commands, you need to enable them in your world. If you’re creating a new world, make sure the “Enable Cheats” option is checked. If your world is already established, you’ll need to enable cheats manually.
- Pause the game after opening your world.
- Select “Open to LAN” from the pause menu.
- Toggle on the “Allow Commands” option and click “Start LAN World.”
Once completed, you will have command access in your world. With cheats enabled, let’s proceed to how to employ the fog command.
Executing the /fog Command
The /fog command, as previously mentioned, allows you to integrate a fog layer into your Minecraft world. You can apply this effect either across the entire world or for specific players. Additionally, you have the option to choose the type of fog you’d like to add. If you’re unsure of the names, you can experiment with various selections from the pop-up menu to find what works best for you.
The command syntax for adding fog is as follows:
/fog <player name> push <fog ID> <user ID>
For instance, if there is a player named “John” and you intend to incorporate the fog effect from the Warped Forest found in the Nether dimension, your command should appear as:
/fog John push “minecraft:fog_warped_forest” “fog_test”
The final part of this command, “fog test,” is simply an identifier assigned to the fog. You can name it however you wish. If you want the fog to surround you, substitute “John”with “@p” instead. After adding the fog, you can also use the removal command if you wish to eliminate it.
To remove the fog from your game, use the following command:
/fog <player name> remove <name of the fog>
Here, the fog name refers to the name you provided when you added the fog layer. That’s the complete process for adding and removing fog in Minecraft.
