Transformations in Episode Battles (Story Mode)

Within the narrative-rich Episode Battles, transformations are tied to story progression and occur when particular events take place. Players cannot initiate transformations manually in this mode.

For instance, during Goku’s encounter with Majin Buu, he starts in his basic form. As the battle progresses and Buu sustains damage, Goku will naturally evolve into Super Saiyan 1, and then further into SSJ2 and SSJ3 as the fight goes on. Likewise, fusions, such as Gotenks or Vegito, occur automatically according to the story requirements, rather than player intervention.

Transforming in Multiplayer and Other Modes

In multiplayer settings or alternate gameplay modes, the transformation process is different. Here, you take charge of your character’s transformation timing and method, provided you have the appropriate character and enough Skill Points.

How to Transform in Multiplayer:

1. Choose a Transforming Character: Select a character from the available roster that is capable of undergoing transformations.

2. Accumulate Skill Points: To execute a transformation, you need to collect Skill Points. The amount required varies depending on the transformation’s power level. Basic transformations (like Super Saiyan 1) may need just 1 Skill Point, while more advanced forms (such as Super Saiyan Blue) can demand up to 3 Skill Points.

3. Initiate the Transformation: Once your character has the requisite Skill Points, a blue up-arrow will appear beside their portrait, indicating readiness for transformation. Follow these prompts to transform:

  • Press Up on the D-pad to access the transformation menu.
  • Click R3/RS (right analog stick) to open the transformation sub-menu.
  • Move the right stick to select the desired form, and the transformation will take place.

For example, if you are controlling Goku and have gathered 3 Skill Points, you can transform directly from Goku’s base form to Super Saiyan Blue. Similarly, if you’re playing Frieza, you can evolve through each of his forms by amassing enough Skill Points.
