The demon Azmodan makes his return in Diablo 4 as a formidable World Boss, diverging from the traditional approach of having a specific lair. Instead of waiting for his scheduled appearance dictated by the game’s World Boss timer, players can summon him manually in Season 11. This can be accomplished by visiting the Fields of Desecration, given that you possess the requisite items.
To progress through the second tier of Season Rank objectives in Diablo 4, familiarity with the summoning method for Azmodan in Hawezar is essential. If you’re unsure how to initiate this encounter, follow this comprehensive guide.
Diablo 4 Season 11: Azmodan Summoning Guide

To summon Azmodan, head to the Fields of Desecration located southeast of Zarbinzet and interact with the three Altars present there. These altars are linked to the Lesser Evils: Duriel, Andariel, and Belial. By activating any one of these altars, you will trigger the spawning of demons, paving the way for Azmodan to appear after defeating several waves of enemies.

It appears there is a level requirement for summoning Azmodan. Through our observations, a level 60 Paladin was able to summon him on Hard mode with relative ease. In contrast, attempts to summon Azmodan using a level 14 Barbarian did not yield any results. Interestingly, we encountered a group of level 60 players engaging with Azmodan on Normal mode, suggesting that no specific difficulty level is required for the summoning process. However, when attempting the summon again with the level 14 Barbarian on Hard mode, even players around level 59 were unable to activate the altars.
It is reasonable to conclude that players must at least be level 60 to summon Azmodan in the Fields of Desecration. This requirement aligns with his status as a World Boss. While our level 60 Paladin faced challenges in quickly defeating Hard mode Azmodan, a coordinated effort from multiple max-level players can lead to a swift victory.
Additionally, working collaboratively to farm Azmodan could provide excellent opportunities for leveling up.
Understanding Corrupted Boss Items

Upon defeating Azmodan, treasure chests will be spawned near the boss altars in the Fields of Desecration. To access these chests, you will need to collect any five of the following Corrupted Boss Items:
- Corrupted Claw of Andariel
- Corrupted Eye of Belial
- Corrupted Horn of Duriel
These items will grant you access to loot chests associated with their respective Lesser Evils. It’s crucial to note that these chests will yield gear appropriate to your level. Even if you are at level 60, fighting Azmodan at any pre-Torment difficulty still offers the potential for Unique item drops.
