Guide to Spawning Creaking in Minecraft

Guide to Spawning Creaking in Minecraft

Minecraft has introduced several thrilling new features, including the Creaking mob, the pale garden biome, and a unique tree known as the pale oak. These experimental elements were added in the latest snapshot and are currently exclusive to the Java Edition.

This guide outlines the process for spawning the new hostile mob, Creaking, along with instructions on using commands. Keep in mind that these features are experimental, and the information provided is based on snapshot 24w40a.

The Creaking spawns naturally solely in the pale garden biome, where other animal mobs do not appear. However, you can spawn them in any biome of your choice by locating the Creaking Heart. To break it, you must use tools enchanted with Silk Touch; using any other tool will destroy the heart.

After you obtain the Creaking Heart, you will need blocks of pale oak wood to “activate” the heart. The heart becomes disabled once broken. To summon the Creaking, you must transition the heart from the dormant phase to the activated phase.

Here are the steps to activate the heart and spawn the Creaking:

  • Transport the Creaking Heart to any biome you choose.
  • This item can be placed in various orientations similar to wood logs.
  • Ensure the heart is situated between two pale oak wood blocks in the same orientation.
  • The orientation and placement are crucial in converting the Creaking heart’s state to dormant.
  • Both the pale oak wood blocks and the Creaking Heart must align in orientation.

Once all items are placed correctly, the Creaking Heart will emit a faint orange glow, indicating it has become dormant. Wait until nightfall, as the Creaking only spawns at night. When this hostile mob appears, the heart is activated.

To deactivate an activated Creaking Heart, it needs to be destroyed or broken. Removing the pale oak wood blocks from the sides will not deactivate the heart, nor will it cause the Creaking mob to despawn.

Like other mobs, the Creaking can also be summoned using commands. First, enable cheats from the game menu. Pause the game and select Open to LAN > Allow Cheats: ON > Start LAN World.

Once cheats are enabled, use the following command to spawn the Creaking:

  • /summon minecraft:creaking ~~~

The “~~~”symbol denotes the coordinates where you want the mob to spawn.

What Does the Creaking Do in Minecraft?

The Creaking is a hostile mob found in the pale garden biome. Although its purpose has not yet been defined, it serves as an extension of the Creaking Heart, adding an intriguing gameplay mechanic. While you are looking at it, the Creaking will not attack.

However, breaking eye contact causes the Creaking to launch an attack. Interestingly, it does not take damage from attacks. The only method to defeat it is by destroying or breaking the Creaking Heart. Keep in mind that locating the heart becomes significantly more challenging while having to maintain eye contact with the Creaking.
