Guide to Satisfying the Gnomes in The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature Expansion

Guide to Satisfying the Gnomes in The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature Expansion

In the realm of The Sims 4, gnomes possess three distinct behavioural states. When in a neutral state, they tend to teleport around your home, engaging in little more than aimless wandering. However, their whimsical nature can lead them to obstruct vital areas, causing challenges for your Sims, such as blocking the refrigerator or keeping a sleeping Sim pinned in bed. When they transition to an appeased state, gnomes exhibit friendliness towards your Sims and behave positively based on how they were summoned. Conversely, if angered, they switch to an evil state, opting to wreak havoc by breaking belongings until a household member successfully pleads for their forgiveness.

In summary, while sentient gnomes in The Sims 4 can be delightful household companions, unchecked, they can also become quite a nuisance. To ensure harmony, it is crucial to understand the appropriate gifts for appeasing each gnome.

How to Soothe the Gnomes in The Sims 4

Initially, garden gnomes in The Sims 4 are not sentient; however, under certain conditions, they can gain this unique trait. The first method, introduced in the Seasons expansion pack, activates during specific in-game celebrations, particularly those that honor the Holiday Gnomes tradition. During these times, gnomes may appear and teleport about the lot, crafting an interactive environment. If treated well with suitable gifts, they will reward players by scattering seasonal seed packets around the house. Failing to appease them correctly, however, will provoke their mischievous, destructible nature.

Adding to the complexity, the Enchanted by Nature expansion allows gnomes to achieve temporary sentience when sprinkled with Fairy Dust. This magical boost enables gnomes to assist with gardening and other tasks. Unfortunately, the implementation of a luck system means that mischievous gnomes can unexpectedly appear, especially during your Sims’ challenging moments, contributing to more chaotic house dynamics.

When it comes to appeasing a sentient gnome, simply click on it and choose one of the offered appeasement gifts from the radial menu. Players can consistently select from a list of six gifts: Coffee, Fruitcake, Future Cube, Pie, Salad, or Toy. Remarkably, your Sim can produce these offerings without any monetary cost, but success hinges on the gnome’s preference for the chosen gift.

Appeasing The Great Gnome in The Sims 4 Enchanted by Nature

Upon installing the Enchanted by Nature expansion, players can discover The Great Gnome statue located in the Coast of Adhmor neighbourhood of Innisgreen, near Gnum Gnum’s Specialty Food stall. This unique piece of outdoor decor isn’t craftable or purchasable without using debug mode, and cannot assist with household tasks.

However, Sims possessing the Now You Gnome reward trait can attempt to appease it by offering coffee, pie, or a toy in return for a random crafting material or collectible reward.

Miscellaneous Gnomes in The Sims 4

It’s important to note that several decorative items related to gnomes cannot become sentient or be appeased within the game:

  • Gnome Simmi / Golden Gnome Simmi: Part of the Simmi Capsule collection from Snowy Escape, but not categorized as an actual gnome.
  • Chuck Wagon with Trailboss Gnome: Available through Build/Buy or woodwork crafting, yet lacking full gnome functionality due to its nature as part of a more complex design.
  • Gnome-Shaped Gemstone: Created through the Gemology skill from Crystal Creations, but not classified as a gnome.
  • Gnome Sculpture: Crafted with the Pottery skill from Businesses & Hobbies, though not considered a true gnome.
