Guide to Recycling Ores Effectively in The Forge

Guide to Recycling Ores Effectively in The Forge

The most recent update to The Forge has brought significant quality of life enhancements, particularly with the introduction of an innovative recycling mechanism for ores. This feature allows players to dismantle their crafted equipment, returning valuable ores that can often be difficult to source. This guide will walk you through the process of recycling ores in The Forge and offer strategic tips to optimize your experience with this exciting new functionality.

Recycling Ores in The Forge

To begin recycling ores, players need to interact with either the Marbles NPC located at Stonewake’s Cross or the Wo NPC found in both the Forgotten Kingdom and Frostspire Expanse. These key locations serve as hubs for recycling crafted items and selling equipment.

Recycling is available exclusively for crafted armors and weapons. Players can expect to receive back half of the ores used in the crafting process. For instance, if you crafted a Straight Sword utilizing six ores (comprised of 2 Yeti Hearts, 2 Void Stars, and 2 Snowites), recycling that sword will return three ores (1 Yeti Heart, 1 Void Star, and 1 Snowite).Notably, if your equipment involves one ore of each rarity—common in items like Daggers—you’ll receive all ores back, since these typically require just three ores to create.

Remember, there is a monetary cost associated with recycling equipment, which varies based on its selling value. Generally, the rarer the armor or weapon recipe, the higher the recycling fee will be. It’s also essential to ensure you have adequate bag space when recycling, as a full inventory will prevent you from receiving your recycled ores.

Is Recycling Ores Worth It?

Absolutely! Recycling ores in The Forge is a strategic move, particularly for reclaiming Mythic, Relic, and Divine rarity ores used in weapon and armor crafting. It is advisable to recycle any surplus weapons, especially those you no longer need, instead of selling them.

Since weapons like Straight Swords, Gauntlets, Spears, and Axes typically offer low monetary returns, selling them isn’t particularly lucrative. Moreover, these items often require some of the rarest ores to craft, significantly boosting their potential damage output. Instead of allowing the RNG to dictate your outcomes, recycling these items provides a smarter path forward.

Conversely, top-tier armors are more readily available, albeit limited in type. If you aim for heavy armors, they tend to sell for substantial amounts, hence requiring higher fees for recycling. For seasoned players at later stages, recycling could prove to be the optimal choice, especially if you’re adept at accumulating wealth within The Forge. However, for those still in the early to mid-game phases, it may be prudent to hold off on recycling until you’re equipped with one of the best pickaxes and have reached a more advanced stage in the game.

Now that you’re equipped with the knowledge of how to recycle ores in The Forge, we’d love to hear about your experiences! What weapons or armors have you chosen to recycle? Please share your crafting recipe in the comments.
