This feature is accessible on PC, Android, and iOS platforms, though the required storage space may differ across each system.

The preload option for the Honkai Star Rail 2.6 update was made available on October 21, 2024, for PC, Android, and iOS users. To facilitate the download before the global release, you can use the relevant launchers.

Preloading HSR 2.6 on PC

  • For PC users, start by opening the HoYoPlay launcher.
  • If you have multiple HoYoverse titles installed, select Star Rail from your library.
  • Press the Pre-Install Icon located at the bottom, next to the Start button. This will bring up a window with details about the Resource Package Size and overall storage requirements.
  • Click the Download button to initiate the process.

The preload size for version 2.6 on PC is approximately 15 GB. However, it’s advisable to free up about 33 GB of storage since the files will decompress during the final update installation. Players can start the game while the patch downloads in the background.

  • Open the game on your mobile device.
  • Navigate to the login screen and look for the Pre-Download Resource Icon in the bottom right corner. Click on this icon to access a pop-up window.
  • Select Confirm to begin downloading the files.

The steps for preloading are consistent across both Android and iOS devices. The initial resource size for pre-installation is approximately 1.7 GB, with the total file size growing to 12.2 GB once the update is integrated. The overall storage requirement on mobile is around 21 GB.

It’s important to note that the preload size may change depending on the use of voice-over expansion files in various languages. Additionally, as of now, PlayStation does not support a preload feature, meaning console players will need to wait for an official announcement for the update.
