Guide to Obtaining the Royal Guard Armor Set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

UPDATE: We have embedded an interactive map to assist you in locating all Royal Guard armor pieces in *Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom*.

In *The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom*, the Royal Guard armor set gives Link a striking appearance befitting a distinguished protector of Hyrule Castle. Fortunately, obtaining this armor is a straightforward endeavor.

Consistent with its name, the Royal Guard armor can be located throughout Hyrule Castle, securely hidden within various chests. Here’s a detailed guide on how to acquire the Royal Guard armor set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Acquiring the Royal Guard Armor Set

The Royal Guard armor set comprises three essential components: the Royal Guard Cap, the Royal Guard Uniform, and the Royal Guard Boots. While wearing the complete set does not confer any specific bonuses, upgrading it at a Great Fairy Fountain allows you to expend less stamina when executing charged attacks—an invaluable advantage when battling foes.

All pieces of the Royal Guard armor are situated within Hyrule Castle, which is positioned north of Lookout Landing. For convenience, the closest shrine is the Serutabomac Shrine, located at coordinates -0179, 1170, 0280.

Finding the Royal Guard Uniform

The next piece, the Royal Guard Uniform, is situated in the Guard’s Chamber beneath the First Gatehouse. You may have initially visited this area while seeking Captain Hoz at the beginning of your adventure.

If you need a reminder, the First Gatehouse is marked on the map below and is located at coordinates -0375, 0845, 0109.

Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs amidst the Gloom, look around—you’ll see a chest containing the Royal Guard Uniform resting on a wooden platform above the Gloom puddle. If you’re quick, you can simply stand on the edge of the Gloom and use the Ascend ability to reach the platform without losing any hearts. Open the chest to obtain the Royal Guard Uniform.

Obtaining the Royal Guard Boots

Finally, we’ll secure the Royal Guard Boots, which are fortunately the easiest item to find in the set, located in the King’s Study.

Begin again at the Serutabomac Shrine, then drop down to the platform directly below (B2) and descend the stairs.

At the base of the stairs, turn left to enter the Library. Proceed to the lowest level and face the north wall beneath the staircase lined with bookcases. You may notice a section of the bookcase that appears oddly out of place.

Make use of the Ultrahand ability to shift the glass bookcase aside, revealing a hidden area—the King’s Study. The chest containing the Royal Guard Boots will be directly in front of you, with a Royal Shield located behind it as an added bonus!

For enhanced traversal across Hyrule, consider acquiring both the Climbing Gear and Glide Armor as they significantly ease movement. Additionally, remember to utilize your Bubbul Gems for some unique collectible gear.
