Guide to Obtaining a Free Horse Early in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 follows the continued adventures of Henry of Skalitz as he navigates the turmoil of war, journeying from the rural landscapes of Bohemia to the bustling medieval city of Kuttenberg. Early in the game, players will find that acquiring a horse is essential for efficiently exploring the expansive terrain. This sequel introduces a host of enhancements compared to its predecessor, boasting improved graphics, various quality-of-life upgrades, and a plethora of exciting new weaponry for Henry to wield.

However, before fortune smiles upon Henry, he faces a series of challenges. Following an ill-fated expedition to Trosky castle alongside Hans Capon, Henry finds himself stripped of his clothing, weapons, and money. Compounding his misfortune is the loss of his loyal steed, Pebbles. As such, players should make it a priority to reunite Henry with his horse as swiftly as possible.

After a narrow escape from a bandit ambush, Henry and Hans are aided by a herbwoman residing in the woods. However, their troubles escalate as they find themselves imprisoned in the Troskowitz stocks. At this point, players can embark on the main quest. The first character Henry meets is Bara, who informs him that the nearest groom can be found in Semine, situated southwest of Troskowitz.

To reach Semine, Henry should follow the primary road southwest from Troskowitz. He must take the right path at the shrine fork and proceed alongside the road, steering clear of the nearby forests. After some time, a large fortress will come into view, complete with a guard at the entrance. Players should pass through the archway, allowing the guard to conduct any necessary searches, and head toward the stables. Inside the stable, there will be a prompt to check the field, where Henry will finally spot Pebbles.

Once Henry locates Pebbles, his next step involves engaging with the groom, Ballatay. Players should select the dialogue option “Pebbles!” This choice provides Henry with two avenues to reclaim his steed free of charge. It’s important for players to have at least level 7 in Speech to successfully negotiate this, although failing this check means he must pay 150 Groschen or negotiate for a lower price.

As the story unfolds in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Henry will encounter stronger and speedier horses, rendering a hasty replacement of Pebbles unnecessary. If players find themselves short on speech skills, they can enhance their chances of successfully persuading Ballatay by improving Henry’s overall appearance. Acquiring decent clothing or gleaming armor through trading or combat will increase the likelihood of Ballatay handing over Pebbles without charge.
