Guide to Earning the Gold Button in Black Myth: Wukong

The Gold Button is one of the most potent end-game Curios you can acquire in Black Myth Wukong. As with most powerful Curios in the game, the Gold Button is entirely missable if a particular enemy type remains undefeated, which is linked to a specific chapter in the main story. Additionally, this Curios cannot be farmed and can only be obtained once per playthrough.

Fortunately, acquiring the Gold Button isn’t as challenging as waiting for it to randomly drop from defeated enemies, similar to items like Beast Buddha, Thunderflame Seal, and Tiger Tendon Belt. Instead, this Curios guarantees drop from one of the elite enemies found in Chapter 5 (The Flaming Mountains).

How to Obtain the Gold Button Curios in Black Myth Wukong

The Gold Button can be obtained in Chapter 5 (The Flaming Mountains) of Black Myth Wukong as a guaranteed drop from Giant Rakshasa soldiers. Unlike some other Curios, the Gold Button is assuredly dropped, meaning it cannot be missed as long as you defeat the Giants. However, the enemies are entirely optional and do not attack unless you encroach upon their territory.

You can find the Giant Rakshasas near the entrance of the Rakshasa Palace. Essentially, there are two of these Giants guarding the route to a small shrine where the Old Man NPC is resting. However, you only need to defeat one of the Giant Rakshasas to acquire the Gold Button Curios.

If you’re struggling with the Giant Rakshasas, here are some tips to easily defeat them in Black Myth Wukong:

  • Equip the Fireproof Mantle to negate all Burn damage from the lava-covered floor.
  • Stay behind the Giants and utilize the charged-heavy attack of the Smash Stance to stagger them and deal damage.
  • Use Immobilize to land additional hits and reposition yourself effectively.
  • The Wandering Wight Spirit ability can stagger the Giants easily.

Upon defeating one of the Giant Rakshasas, you will receive the Gold Button Curios. Similar to the Beast Buddha Curios, it enhances the Destined One’s attack power, but only when you are at full health, which can be tricky during several late-game boss fights.

Once you enter New Game+ or once you master the “see-through” combos of all stances, maintaining your HP will be much easier. This will enable you to maximize the benefits of the Gold Button Curios. Furthermore, the effects of the Gold Button stack with those of the Beast Buddha.
