However, simply purchasing an ImagineMe! doll doesn’t instantly transform it into an Imaginary Friend. To initiate the transformation, the child Sim must meet at least one of the following criteria: achieve Level 3 in Creativity, cultivate a friendship with the doll through various interactions, or have a critically low Social need. Once these conditions are met, the “Turn into Imaginary Friend” option becomes available in the interaction menu.
Make sure to customize the doll’s name and personality before it transitions into an Imaginary Friend, as these attributes can only be updated prior to the transformation.
The child Sim only needs to meet one of the three conditions to create an Imaginary Friend. Building a relationship with the newly-created Imaginary Friend is crucial, as it will revert to Acquaintance status, necessitating further interactions to maintain a long-term friendship.
Once the Imaginary Friend is created, they remain exclusive to the child Sim, turning invisible when other household members are viewed. Despite this, the child Sim continues their interaction with the Imaginary Friend, which may seem odd to other Sims.
How to Transform Imaginary Friends into Real Sims
Upon building a robust relationship with their Imaginary Friend, child Sims can use the interaction “Offer to Make Real” to solidify the friendship. This option becomes accessible when the Imaginary Friend is active but will be unavailable if the relationship is insufficient or the child Sim has not yet aged up to a teenager.
Upon reaching teen status, Sims can choose to either invite their Imaginary Friend into the real world filled with teenage adventures or retain the nostalgic connection by leaving them as is. Either choice encounters no penalties, offering flexibility in gameplay.
Once a child Sim ages to a teenager, their Imaginary Friend can be dispensed with; however, the “Offer to Make Real”interaction must be initiated prior to this stage to ensure they transform. It’s important to note that Imaginary Friends will dissipate when their child friend transitions to adolescence, providing an easy opportunity to keep the relationship casual.
Ways to Dismiss Imaginary Friends
Players have various options for dismissing Imaginary Friends, from temporary solutions to permanent removals.
To temporarily revert an Imaginary Friend to doll form, select “Send Back to Imaginary Land”. This allows for summoning them back at any time. For a more permanent solution, consider the following options:
- Selling the ImagineMe! doll in either Build/Buy mode or through the Sim’s inventory will immediately and permanently remove the Imaginary Friend from the relationship panel.
- The child can choose to say “Goodbye Forever” to dismiss the Imaginary Friend without getting rid of the doll, a bittersweet farewell.
- You can allow the child Sim to age up to a teenager and simply not invoke the transformation option.
Once an Imaginary Friend transitions into a real Sim, they cannot be sent away like before. Former Imaginary Friends retain slight occult traits but function as regular Sims. To remove them from the household, players might need to employ traditional means.
