Guide to Completing Blaidd’s Quest in Elden Ring

UPDATE: We have optimized the information on this page and included additional tips to assist you in completing Half-Wolf Blaidd’s quest effectively.

The Blaidd questline in Elden Ring is intricately linked with several pivotal characters and events. As you traverse the vast expanse of the game, it is easy to overlook critical aspects of this quest. Serving as a precursor to a challenging boss encounter, you can embark on this quest at any time—even if you have already vanquished Darriwil, the Evergaol boss mentioned by Blaidd, before your initial meeting in Mistwood. If you’re looking for guidance on how to navigate Blaidd’s quest, here’s a comprehensive guide.

Initiating Wolf’s Quest in Elden Ring

To kickstart Blaidd’s quest, players must first venture to the Mistwood Ruins, located northeast of Waypoint Ruins. Listen for the distinctive howling sound to locate Blaidd. However, you can bypass this step altogether by starting Ranni’s quest, which overlaps with Blaidd’s storyline.

Next, return to the Church of Elleh in Limwood and converse with Kale the Merchant, who will enlighten you about Blaidd and teach you the Finger Snap gesture. Head back to the Mistwood Ruins and use the Finger Snap to summon Blaidd, who can be found resting atop the highest part of the ruins.

If you haven’t faced Darriwil yet, Blaidd will discuss his connection to the Bloodhound Knight and direct you to combat him at the Forlorn Hound Evergaol. Whether you have defeated Darriwil or not, return to Blaidd at the ruins and interact with him twice. The first interaction rewards you with a Somber Smithing Stone, while the second reveals that you must locate Iji the Blacksmith on the path to Caria Manor in Liurnia, granting you access to the Carian Filigreed Crest from the Blacksmith’s inventory.

Advancing Blaidd’s Quest in Elden Ring

At this juncture, Blaidd’s quest intertwines with Ranni’s narrative. After Ranni summons Blaidd at Ranni’s Rise—the location where you first encounter the snow witch—you will need to meet him again in Siofra River, near Hallowhorn Grounds (where the deceased deer marks the site).Engage him in conversation until he exhausts his dialogue, then proceed to Seluvis’ Rise for another interaction.

This meeting with Seluvis activates his own questline, though it isn’t mandatory to complete Blaidd’s quest. Gather the scroll from Seluvis and deliver it to Sellen in the Waypoint Ruins, then return to Blaidd once more. This aspect of the quest remains distinct from Sellen’s storyline.

Continuing Wolf's Quest

Your next objective involves initiating the Redmane Festival and confronting Radahn at Caelid’s Redmane Castle. Don’t hesitate to utilize NPC summons to ease the difficulty of this battle.

Following Radahn’s defeat, the quest takes a longer turn as Blaidd gets imprisoned within the Forlorn Hound Evergaol. He will remain there until you advance Ranni’s storyline: upon fulfilling that, he will reappear at Ranni’s Rise and engage you in combat. Successfully defeating Blaidd will reward you with his unique greatsword and armor, and there is no opportunity to de-escalate your confrontation with him.

Insight into Blaidd’s and Ranni’s Quests

There are various milestones along Ranni’s and Blaidd’s quests that can lead to differing progressions, which we aim to clarify below.

  • Commencing the Radahn Festival will automatically skip the early segments of both Ranni’s and Blaidd’s quests. While Ranni’s quest can only progress post-Radahn, Blaidd’s quest will immediately jump to his imprisonment.
  • You will encounter a spectral, Invader version of Blaidd during Ranni’s quest. Note that this instance is unrelated to Blaidd’s primary questline.
  • The Radahn Festival can also be triggered outside Ranni’s storyline by utilizing the Grand Lift of Dectus or resting at a Grace in Altus Plateau. In this case, Blaidd will eliminate all foes present in the castle, and its doors will remain locked until the Festival concludes and you rest at a Site of Grace.
