The Ultimate Guide to Acquiring the Zonaite Armor Set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Among the various new armors in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Zonaite armor stands out for its impressive design and functionality. Not only does it transform Link into a formidable Zonai warrior, but it also enhances the efficiency of Zonai Devices, making it an essential gear set for adventurers.
In your quest to collect the entire Zonai armor set, you’ll need to ascend to the sky islands scattered across Hyrule. This favorable time is perfect for gathering Zonai Dispensers and Sundelions, treasures you’ll undoubtedly utilize during your escapades. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to obtain the Zonaite armor set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Getting the Zonaite Armor Set
The Zonaite armor consists of three essential pieces: the Zonaite Helm, the Zonaite Waistguard, and the Zonaite Shin Guards. Each piece is situated on sky islands that are often challenging to reach, particularly if you have not yet unlocked the extended map. Therefore, I highly recommend activating as many Skyview Towers as possible first; this will significantly simplify the collection process.
Equipping the Zonaite armor not only boosts the energy efficiency of your Zonai Devices but upgrading it at a Great Fairy Fountain will double the recharge speed of your Zonai batteries. For precise locations of each armor piece, refer to the interactive map below:
Acquiring the Zonaite Helm
To begin your adventure, the Zonaite Helm resides on Lightcast Island, located to the south of the Zora Domain. Before proceeding, it is advisable to complete the Zora Domain questline to acquire the necessary armor pieces. Additionally, prepare stamina elixirs and gather Zoneite charges as you will need to swim up a waterfall to reach Lightcast Island.

Start your journey by launching from the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower in the Hebra region and gliding towards the waterfall to the south. Utilize stamina elixirs to keep Link’s stamina topped off. If you can’t make it directly to the waterfall, land on a nearby small island to gather your resources.
From the island, consider using your Autobuild ability to create a hot air balloon, which will help you ascend towards Lightcast Island. Equip the Zora armor when you reach the waterfall to facilitate your arrival to the sky islands.
Keep an eye on the weather; if it rains, you can swim directly up the waterfall, simplifying your ascent.

After arriving at the sky island, locate minecarts and rockets. Attach a couple of rockets to the minecart before riding it to the next island. You can use fans and rockets on a glider, allowing Link to navigate over to Lightcast Island easily.

Navigate over to Lightcast Island, positioning yourself on a small platform with fans and batteries. Once that’s ready, fly upwards towards Lightcast Island, then proceed to the northern part of the island to locate a Zonai terminal that will help drain the surrounding water.

Once you’ve drained the area, move towards the light pointing at a destructible rock, break it, and continue forward into a cave. Use Brightbloom Seeds to illuminate the area, and you will come across two mirror devices. Utilize these mirrors to reflect light and activate the large panel, just like in the Soryotanog Shrine.
After completing this light-reflecting puzzle, you will finally access the chest containing the Zonaite Helm!
Getting the Zonaite Waistguard
The Zonaite Waistguard is also hidden among the sky islands, specifically located on Zonaite Forge Island in the Necluda region. Similar to Lightcast Island, this area requires soaring skills, so ensure you’re well-stocked with stamina items.

Start your adventure at Popla Foothills Skyview Tower to launch Link into the sky. Glide towards the West Necluda Sky Archipelago while ensuring you have enough stamina for the trip.

Once you’ve landed on the island, access the Ukoojisi Shrine for a fast-travel point. Head to the northernmost area where you’ll see large floating platforms with rockets. Attach a single rocket to one platform and keep additional rockets nearby without attaching them immediately. This strategy ensures you gain enough height to reach Zonaite Forge Island incrementally.

Launch off the platform using the attached rocket and repeat the process until you make your way to Zonaite Forge Island. Once you successfully land, activate the Zonai Terminal at the base of the island which will create upward drafts for easy access to the heights of the island.

Navigate through a chasm filled with lasers at the top and activate the Yansamin Shrine for a convenient fast-travel location. Behind the shrine, you’ll find a box where you can access the Zonai Waistguards. Use Ultrahand to create stone slabs over any lava, allowing you to safely Ascend into the box containing the treasured gear.

Obtaining the Zonaite Shin Guards
Finally, the journey to collect the Zonaite Shin Guards will lead you to a small island within the North Akkala Sky Archipelago, near the Sky Mine. First, reach the Sky Mine by launching from Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower.

Once you arrive, avoid confrontations with enemies and head to the furthest floating platform that contains batteries and fans. Attach batteries for elevation and travel towards the Sky Mine.
When you reach the initial island of the Sky Mine, activate the Zonai Terminal to power the push block stationed centrally on the island.

Stand atop the push block to propel Link to the next island. Repeat this process until you reach the last island, where you will encounter stone blocks. Rotate the push block to align it with a large sphere in the area.

Stack the stone cubes onto the push block and launch them towards the sphere, making sure one lands in the sphere’s hole. Then, have Link follow suit into the same opening.
Inside, locate the stone block and use Ultrahand to place it on the switch in the center of the room to trigger movement of the sphere walls, allowing access to the lower section.
Finally, glide out from the sphere and descend into the hole in its lower half. Retrieve the Zonaite Shin Guards from the chest there, completing your Zonaite armor set!
Explore additional armor types in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, including the Glide armor for enhanced flight and the Rubber armor, which will protect Link from storms. Don’t forget about the Depths armor that prevents Link from losing too many hearts in critical situations!
