Guide to Acquiring the Qing-Tian Gourd in Black Myth: Wukong

The Qing-Tian Gourd stands out as one of the most intriguing gourd types in Black Myth: Wukong. Although its limited healing charges might suggest it’s not practical for most combat situations in the game, it proves to be incredibly powerful and beneficial in New Game+, provided players know how to maximize its usage.

Acquiring the Qing-Tian Gourd is a relatively simple task, as it can be bought from the Shen Monkey in either Zodiac Village (using Ryui Scroll) or Chapter 1 (The Black Wind Mountain). However, it is available for purchase only under specific conditions and exclusively in New Game+.

How to Obtain the Qing-Tian Gourd in Black Myth: Wukong

The Qing-Tian Gourd can be procured from the Shen Monkey in New Game+ after completing all the Character Portraits. To unlock the Qing-Tian Gourd, players must acquire the Old Man NPC’s portrait, specifically Yuan Shoucheng, in the Portrait menu. Yuan Shoucheng’s Portrait becomes available only after collecting all character portraits throughout the game.

Fortunately, all the Character Portraits can be collected in the first playthrough without much effort. Here are some helpful tips to unlock all the Portraits in Black Myth: Wukong efficiently:

  • Thoroughly explore each chapter and complete the NPC quests.
  • Be sure to uncover “secret areas”that may contain Yaoguai Chiefs (bosses), as well as regular enemies and NPCs necessary for Portrait completion.
  • Take your time in the final Chapter (Mount Huaguo).
  • Avoid entering New Game+ if you have outstanding Character Portrait entries related to secret areas or NPC quests.

Many NPC quests in Black Myth: Wukong are not linked to the main story progression, allowing completion even after reaching the story’s conclusion. Therefore, ensure all content is completed before rushing into New Game+.

After collecting all Character Portraits, you can purchase the Qing-Tian Gourd from the Shen Monkey in either Chapter 1 (Black Wind Mountains) or Zodiac Village. Although the Qing-Tian Gourd provides only a single healing charge, its main advantage lies in the ability to gradually restore healing charges over time.

Therefore, in theory, the Qing-Tian Gourd has an infinite number of healing charges, with cooldowns required between sips. The best strategy for utilizing the Qing-Tian Gourd is during New Game+, particularly in lengthy boss encounters such as with Erlang, the Sacred Divinity. These prolonged battles provide ample time to refresh the Gourd’s healing charges.
