Guide to Acquiring the Preservation Orb in Black Myth Wukong

The Preservation Orb is one of the best-kept secrets in Black Myth: Wukong that many players may overlook on their initial playthrough. Although it’s not particularly hard to acquire, the steps to obtain this Epic rarity Curio can be somewhat perplexing, as it involves more than just looting a chest.

In addition to serving as a fun Easter egg, the Preservation Orb offers significant advantages in Black Myth: Wukong. Its primary benefits include a substantial boost to Health, Mana, and Stamina. However, there’s a crucial caveat: the Curio’s perks only activate after your character is resurrected.

How to Locate the Preservation Orb in Black Myth Wukong

You can find the Preservation Orb in Chapter 4 (The Webbed Hollow). However, it can only be accessed after defeating the final boss of this chapter, the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master. The orb is linked to the Violet Spider and Zhu Bajie, who share a backstory before going their separate paths.

Prior to Zhu Bajie’s encounter with Sun Wukong on their Journey to the West, the climax of Chapter 4 reveals that the Violet Spider succumbs to injuries inflicted by the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master, who extracted Wukong’s Relic from her.

In remembrance of the Violet Spider, Zhu Bajie leaves a treasure chest near her grave, containing the Preservation Orb. Unfortunately, the game provides no hints about this “treasure chest,”making it challenging to discover without guidance or luck.

Follow these steps to secure the Preservation Orb in Black Myth: Wukong:

  • Finish Chapter 4 (The Webbed Hollow) and progress to Chapter 5 (The Flaming Mountains).
  • Return to the Court of Illuminations at the Keeper’s Shrine.
  • From the shrine, head southeast towards the cave where you battled the Venom Daoist.
  • Exit the cave to reach the opposite side of the area.
  • Locate a small treasure chest near the gravesite, identifiable by tombstones.
  • Open the chest to claim the Preservation Orb.
