In Monster Hunter Wilds, defeating a monster opens up opportunities to carve and collect various materials from it. A strategic approach during battles allows hunters to inflict wounds on specific body parts, thereby increasing damage dealt and the chance to gather additional resources upon the creature’s defeat.
It’s essential to focus on specific body parts to obtain particular materials, rather than relying purely on luck after the fight. Among the more challenging materials to acquire are the Nerscylla Claws, which come from the formidable Nerscylla. To successfully obtain these claws, follow the guidance below.
Locating Nerscyllas in Monster Hunter Wilds

Nerscyllas can be encountered in three primary regions:
- Basin
- Cliffs
- Wyveria
While tracking these spiders via the purple spider icon on the map is one method, a more efficient option involves completing optional quests.Visit Alma and navigate to the Optional Quests menu to find missions that require hunting or exterminating a Nerscylla. Accepting such a quest ensures you start in the correct region, with your scout flies already tracking the monster.
Acquiring Nerscylla Claws in Monster Hunter Wilds

Nerscyllas are particularly vulnerable to fire and thunder attacks. To effectively garner Nerscylla Claws, you’ll need to target the large claws located on the left side of the spider’s face. It’s crucial not to mistake these with the massive pincers that occasionally extend from its mouth, as they have different properties in battle.
To maximize your chances of stealing Nerscylla Claws, engage the creature from directly beneath it, positioned to its left. Although both claws are attainable, only the left claw can be detached for the coveted material. Focus on striking the softer areas behind the claws instead of the front, as this can effectively inflict damage and lead to a successful break. Persistence is key; even if you don’t manage to break the claw through wounding, repeated hits to the softer parts will likely yield a Claw eventually.

Additionally, fighting the Nerscylla in Area 4 of the cliffs provides a unique advantage, as it may get entangled in webbing, leaving its claw unprotected and flailing in the air.
Staying beneath the creature also offers a tactical benefit, allowing you to evade many of its lunging attacks by dodging in the opposite direction. If you successfully detach one claw during the fight, remember that you can still carve the monster’s body after defeating it, giving you another opportunity to collect additional Nerscylla Claws, or at the very least, materials that can be converted into Armor Spheres.
