In the enchanting realm of Dig, players have access to a diverse selection of shovels designed to aid their quest for unique and valuable treasures. However, not every shovel is optimal from the start; many players will need to enhance their tools to maximize efficiency. Much like in Fisch, Dig allows you to enhance your shovels through the use of Enchantment Tomes, which boost essential attributes such as luck, haste, and control, consequently improving your chances of finding lucrative items.
Understanding the Enchantment Tome in Dig
Enchantments play a crucial role in the world of Dig. The Enchantment Tome is the key item needed to imbue your shovel with special properties using the Enchantment Altar, located in Azure Hollow within the Cinder Cavern. This tome appears as a striking book crowned with a glowing crystal, symbolizing its magical essence.
Acquiring Enchantment Tomes in Dig
Although Enchantment Tomes can be somewhat elusive, there are two primary methods for obtaining them in Dig:
1. Discovering Enchantment Tomes as Loot
For newcomers with limited resources, the most straightforward approach to acquiring Enchantment Tomes is through persistent digging. Equip your best shovel and seek out high-yield digging spots to uncover valuable items.
In addition to standard loot, you may stumble upon various rewards, including basic crates, magnet crates, and even Enchantment Tomes. During our early access testing, we were fortunate to unearth as many as three Enchantment Tomes through this method.

2. Purchasing Enchantment Tomes
If relying on chance doesn’t suit your style, you can opt to purchase Enchantment Tomes using in-game currency. The Dark Wizard is your go-to NPC for this transaction.
To buy from the Dark Wizard, you must meet several prerequisites:
- Achieve Level 30 in Dig.
- Locate the Dark Wizard, who only appears during summer nights.
- Have at least $15, 000 on hand within the game.
Once these conditions are met, follow these steps to purchase an Enchantment Tome:
- Visit Rooftop Woodlands and find the tree with a wooden door (coordinates: 4401, 226, -628).
- Knock on the door to summon the Dark Wizard.
- Interacting with the wizard will allow you to purchase an Enchantment Tome for $15, 000.
