Obsidian Entertainment has officially announced the upcoming release of three exciting titles, including Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2, set to debut in 2025. Among them, the highly anticipated Grounded 2 was unveiled during the Xbox Games Showcase today, captivating fans with the return of the beloved child protagonists from the original survival adventure.
A New Adventure Awaits in Brookhollow Park
Set two years after the original’s events, Grounded 2 transports players to Brookhollow Park, a vibrant new playground scaled down to miniature proportions. With the collaboration of Eidos Montréal, Obsidian aims to enhance the depth, danger, and overall discovery in this latest installment.
New Features and Enhancements
Grounded 2 brings to the table several new features following feedback from the community. Among these is the introduction of Buggies, which serve as bug mounts allowing players to ride and utilize various ally bugs for combat and building purposes—an element fans eagerly anticipated since the first game.
Like its predecessor, Grounded 2 is set to launch as an early access title, focusing on community-driven development to help shape the narrative and gameplay through player feedback.
Key Features of Grounded 2’s Early Access Launch
- Omni-Tool: This versatile tool integrates the hammer, axe, shovel, and wrench into one compact design, enhancing user experience by freeing up backpack space while simplifying survival tasks.

- Expanded World-Building: Players can expect returning favorites like Punch-O and Minotaurs & Myrmidons, alongside new narrative-driven elements that enhance the immersive experience of Brookhollow Park.
- New and Familiar Bugs: Grounded 2 introduces both returning enemies and new challenges, including the addition of the graceful cockroach, which will introduce unique combat dynamics.
- Larger, Richer Biomes: Brookhollow Park offers an expansive environment almost as vast as the entire original backyard, filled with fresh secrets and surprises waiting to be uncovered.
- Community-Driven Development: Development will involve player feedback, with updates that reflect community input, supported by a public roadmap that will be effective upon the Game Preview launch.
Launch Details
Grounded 2 is scheduled for release on July 29, 2025, and will be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S as an early access title priced at $29.99. Notably, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can access the game at no additional cost at launch.
