Grounded 2 Guide: Steps to Acquire the Red Ant Buggie

Grounded 2 is packed with exciting new features, but the standout element that players are eager to explore is the introduction of Buggies. These innovative creatures have transitioned from mere companions to functional vehicles, enhancing your gameplay by assisting in various tasks.

Whether it’s combat or resource collection, Buggies are indispensable for traversing the expansive terrain of Brookhollow Park. This guide will assist you with unlocking the Red Ant Buggie in Grounded 2, ensuring you are well-equipped to tackle the challenges that lie ahead. In survival games, being prepared and having a strategic plan can significantly increase your chances of success.

How to Unlock the Red Ant Buggie

To obtain the Red Ant Buggie, you need to secure the initial Turbo Optical Disk located at the anthill adjacent to the exit of the Ominent facility—our “less dastardly”corporation’s base.

While exploring, you’ll encounter numerous worker ants and a solitary soldier ant, but don’t be deterred; this should be a manageable task.

Your journey to the anthill will commence after you’ve upgraded your Omni-Tool. Don’t forget to bring a torch, or you can craft a makeshift torch by collecting mold stocks along the walls to illuminate your path.

Head directly from the entrance, and you should quickly arrive at your target location. Unearth the chest that is slightly buried to uncover not only the disk but also a token that boosts your damage against ants—though it comes with the trade-off of increased vulnerability.

How to Obtain the Red Ant Soldier Egg

Having learned how to craft a Buggie is only half the battle; you’ll also need a Red Ant Soldier egg to hatch your new companion. You’ll be instructed to build a hatchery, which is relatively straightforward given the materials typically found nearby.

Once your hatchery is ready, prepare to venture to another anthill that poses a greater challenge, populated by far more ants. It’s advisable to craft some armor and restorative bandages prior to your expedition, ensuring you’re adequately equipped to withstand multiple encounters.

Since ants are vulnerable to stabbing attacks, equipping a spear or two will allow you to deliver significantly more damage.

Follow the step-by-step directions below to navigate the labyrinthine tunnels of the anthill without getting lost.Caution: you’ll face various Red Ant Soldiers and possibly an O. R.C. Orbweaver spider, so your armor and bandages will be essential.

  • Enter the anthill.
  • Follow the corridor until reaching an Ominent setup featuring four monitors.
  • Turn left.
  • You’ll encounter a four-way intersection, with one path obstructed by roots.
  • Head straight ahead.
  • Continue until you reach more Ominent machinery with two possible routes.
  • Veer left, but remain vigilant for an O. R.C. Orbweaver blocking your way.
  • A little further on your left, you’ll find an Ominent door—enter it.
  • Inside, another four-way intersection awaits, with one path again blocked. Proceed straight ahead.
  • Your destination lies down this path.

Be swift in your exit as any damage incurred will result in dropping the egg. Should you encounter any resistance without having defeated your enemies, they will aggressively target you the moment you clutch the egg.

Hatching Eggs and Managing Buggies

Once you have returned to the hatchery with your egg, be prepared for a waiting period of 12 in-game hours before it hatches. You can expedite this process by resting, though at a minimum, an additional four in-game hours will need to pass.

Each in-game hour translates to approximately two real-life minutes, so if you opt to wait without sleeping, the total time for hatching the Red Ant Buggie will be around 24 minutes.

After hatching, while constructing a nest isn’t mandatory, it is highly recommended if you wish to manage multiple Buggies. This is especially beneficial should your Buggie be unavailable for its cooldown period of five real-world minutes.

Additionally, a nest allows you to customize the names of your Buggies and assign them to specific hotkeys on your Buggie wheel. You can summon your Buggies from anywhere within the park, though keep in mind that it may take up to 12 seconds for them to arrive.

While there is no limit on the number of nests you can have, each Buggie type requires its dedicated nest. If your ambition is to build an army of creatures, you can certainly do so, though remember that only one can be utilized at a time.

Grounded 2 offers a rich sandbox experience, brimming with opportunities for exploration and adventure. However, players should remain vigilant, as the dangers of this world far exceed those found in a usual backyard.Exploration is key here, and you can easily spend countless hours uncovering every hidden gem within Brookhollow Park.
