Grand Theft Auto VI Delayed Again: New Release Date Announced
Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will experience a delay, with its launch now scheduled for November 19, 2026, instead of the previously announced May 26, 2026.
This announcement came via a succinct update posted on X (formerly Twitter) from Rockstar’s official account. Although the company did not specify the reason behind this postponement, it emphasized the need for additional time to achieve the desired level of polish and quality for the game.

In a follow-up response, Rockstar expressed gratitude to its fanbase, conveying excitement for players to explore the expansive region of Leonida and return to modern-day Vice City. The developers acknowledged the prolonged anticipation and reiterated their commitment to delivering an exceptional gaming experience.
The initial release date, set for May 2026, had given fans hope that this might be the final timeline for the much-anticipated game. Reports earlier this year had suggested that a release within 2025 was unlikely, which made the 2026 date feel more definitive. However, with the announcement of yet another delay, the gaming community is reminded of the extensive investments—both in time and resources—that are characteristic of Rockstar’s development process.
The pursuit of perfection is evident in Rockstar’s meticulous approach, as they prioritize the quality of their titles above all else. In an interview with The Game Business, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, commented on the necessity for the postponement. He stated, “When we set a date, we really do believe in it. If a game requires more polish to be the best possible version of itself, then we will give that game more time. And that’s exactly what happened.”
He further expressed confidence in the new release date, noting that it falls within the same fiscal year and aligns with a favorable release window, showcasing strong support for Rockstar’s strategic decisions.
As anticipation builds toward the November release, fans remain hopeful that the extended waiting period will result in a breathtaking addition to the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
