GPD Reveals Official MSRP for Win 5 Handheld Gaming Device: Priced at $1,400 Featuring Ryzen AI Max 385, 32GB RAM, and 1TB Storage

The GPD Win 5 gaming handheld is set to be released with various configurations featuring Strix Halo chips. Notably, the pricing differences among these options are minimal.

GPD Win 5 Official Pricing: Starting at $1, 400 with Pre-Sale Discounts

Recently, GPD unveiled the pricing for its inaugural Strix Halo-based gaming handhelds, the GPD Win 5. While this console falls into the higher price range, it thankfully avoids the previously anticipated $2, 000 mark.

According to a report by @realVictor_M, the GPD Win 5 begins at 9999 Yuan, roughly translating to US$1, 400. This basic configuration is powered by the Ryzen AI Max 385 processor and includes 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The Ryzen AI Max 385 boasts an 8-core, 16-thread Zen 5 architecture with Radeon 8050S integrated graphics comprising 32 GPU cores. For users seeking more power, the variant equipped with the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 and the Radeon 8060S starts at 11, 500 Yuan, or US$1, 600.

This mid-tier configuration retains the same RAM but increases storage capacity to 2 TB. The most advanced setup, featuring the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 along with 64GB of RAM and 4TB storage, is pegged at 14, 999 Yuan, translating to about US$2, 100. This positions it among the most premium handheld devices currently available, particularly with such a substantial memory and storage combination. Interestingly, the GPD Win 5 is the first of its kind to utilize a 16-core, 32-thread processor in a handheld format.

In comparison, the pricing for the Win 5 appears competitive considering that Strix Halo-based mini PCs are priced between $1, 500 and $2, 200. The GPD Win 5 promises to deliver similar capabilities as these mini PCs while providing the unique advantage of handheld portability. Additionally, GPD is reportedly preparing to launch a configuration with 128 GB of RAM tailored for users managing memory-intensive applications, which is expected to retail for approximately $2, 500.

Furthermore, the high-end 64GB+4TB model can be acquired for approximately $1, 824, offering a significant $300 savings.
