Park Jinyoung, famously recognized as Jinyoung from GOT7, is set to star as the male lead in the upcoming drama Unknown Seoul (literal translation), alongside the acclaimed actress Park Bo-young.

According to an exclusive announcement by Sports Chosun via Naver on September 26, Jinyoung has landed the lead role in this new drama, marking his much-anticipated return to the entertainment industry post-military discharge, expected by late October or early November 2024. This project signifies his first acting role after completing his mandatory service.

Upcoming Drama Starring Park Jinyoung and Park Bo-young

Jinyoung, who has achieved significant success as both a K-pop idol and actor, has made his mark in several popular K-dramas, including The Devil Judge, The Legend of the Blue Sea, Dream High 2, and Yumi’s Cells.

His return to television in Unknown Seoul is highly anticipated, especially with its impressive cast and crew. He will be featured alongside Park Bo-young, a celebrated actress known for her memorable performances in hit dramas such as Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Doom At Your Service, and Concrete Utopia.

Unknown Seoul is a romantic coming-of-age drama about twin sisters who, despite their identical appearances, lead completely different lives. They decide to switch roles and through this ruse, they uncover true love and the meaning of life. Park Bo-young will take on the challenging dual role of the twins.

In this drama, Jinyoung will play the character Hosu, who shares a deep connection with one of the sisters, Miji, rooted in their school days. His character is expected to play a pivotal role in the plot, and fans are excited to see the on-screen chemistry between Jinyoung and Park Bo-young.

The drama is directed by Park Shin-woo, known for his work on popular series like Jealousy Incarnate, Encounter, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, and Ask the Stars. Further details about the drama have yet to be revealed.

Park Bo-young recently earned the Best Actress Award at the 3rd Blue Dragon Series Awards for her role in Daily Dose of Sunshine, which adds to the anticipation surrounding this collaborative project. Fans are eagerly looking forward to Jinyoung’s comeback, and the partnership with Park Bo-young is already stirring excitement.

On a musical note, in 2021, Jinyoung and his fellow GOT7 members parted ways with JYP Entertainment but clarified that GOT7 remains intact as a group. Since then, he has been actively pursuing both solo music and acting projects.

He signed with BH Entertainment, a management agency recognized for its focus on actors, allowing him to prioritize his acting career while still engaging in music. In January 2023, he released his long-awaited solo debut album, Chapter 0: WITH, before enlisting in the military.
