Google’s Pixel 10a Set to Challenge Samsung Galaxy S26 Launch

Recent news suggests that Google is strategically positioning itself to overshadow Samsung’s marketing efforts for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. This insight comes alongside reports indicating a mid-February launch date for Google’s Pixel 10a.

Industry insider Roland Quandt recently shared on Bluesky that the Google Pixel 10a is expected to make its debut around mid-February.

Additionally, tipster Arsène Lupin reported that the Pixel 10a might officially launch on February 17, 2026, a date strategically placed just ahead of Samsung’s anticipated unveiling of the Galaxy S26 series on February 25. The Galaxy S26 is expected to reach consumers by March 11.

While the Pixel 10a may not fully threaten the entire Galaxy S26 lineup, its pricing and specifications could impact the sales of the base model. The Pixel 10a is projected to retail at approximately $500, significantly lower than the $800 for the base Galaxy S26. This price point could attract budget-conscious consumers.

It’s noteworthy that Android Headlines predicts that the Pixel 10a will likely launch in March or April 2026, which could lead to direct competition for marketing slots if it launches around the same time the Galaxy S26 series hits stores. Historical data shows that the Pixel 9a was announced in March 2025 but did not become available until April due to production delays.

The expected color options for the Pixel 10a include Obsidian, Berry, Lavender, and Fog, with the 256GB version available only in Obsidian.

Renowned leakster Evan Blass recently unveiled a screenshot showing the Pixel 10a’s certification for Verizon’s network, revealing several key specifications:

  1. A 6.285-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate up to 120Hz.
  2. 8GB RAM along with 128GB of base storage.
  3. A robust 5, 100mAh battery supporting 23W wired charging.

Additional specifications emerged from previous leaks, indicating:

  1. Dimensions of 153.9 x 72.9 x 9mm.
  2. A Tensor G4 SoC, similar to the Pixel 9a but with superior clock speeds.
  3. A retail price around $499.

The design of the Pixel 10a closely mirrors that of the 9a, showcasing a few distinctive features:

  1. A thick-bezel, plastic-back design.
  2. A dual-camera setup integrated into the camera bar at the back.
  3. A punch-hole selfie camera embedded in the screen.
  4. The volume rocker is positioned below the power button.
  5. Antenna lines are outwardly visible from different angles.
  6. Symmetrically placed speaker and microphone cutouts at the base.

Google Shifts Production Focus to Vietnam for Upcoming Smartphones

In related news, Nikkei Asia reports that Google is pivoting its manufacturing focus to Vietnam for the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Fold, slated for launch later this year.

In a significant move, Google will relocate the critical early production stages of its Pixel smartphones from China to Vietnam, a phase that demands the attention of hundreds of engineers at supplier facilities.

In parallel, Apple is also exploring concurrent early production of iPhones in both India and China, a strategy that involves heavy investments but aims to diversify its supply chain.

Interestingly, Google is maintaining the production of its budget Pixel-a series in China for the time being, amidst China’s new export restrictions on essential smartphone manufacturing equipment, complicating the supply chain dynamics for various OEMs.
