Google’s Find My Device Network Could Finally Launch Soon as iOS 17.5 Readies Tracking Alerts

Despite the initial delay in its launch, Google and Apple continued to collaborate on the development of Find My Device. The rollout was postponed due to Apple’s lack of implementation of the unknown tracker alerts, but with the latest iOS 17.5 update, it seems that we are finally making progress towards its release.

Apple and Google’s Find My Network Integration Nears Completion in Latest iOS 17.5 Beta

After its release today, the iOS 17.5 Beta 1 from Apple includes strings that mention the iPhone’s ability to identify third-party trackers. This feature allows iOS to provide directions on disabling these trackers, confirming the development of the highly anticipated Find My Device network that has been a joint effort between Google and Apple for some time.

One convincing argument for the validity of Find My Device is the statement, “This item is not certified on the Apple Find My network. However, you can disable this item and prevent it from sharing its location with the owner by following the instructions provided on the manufacturer’s website.”

Despite the existence of the necessary strings, the functionality for Find My Device is currently not available on iPhones. Additionally, there is no user interface for this feature on iPhones. However, it is possible that Apple may enable this function in the near future. When that happens, we will be able to provide more information on how it operates.

According to Google, the release of the Find My Device feature has been dependent on Apple’s actions. Once Apple has resolved any issues, the functionality will be accessible to all users without any hindrances to the overall user experience.

We will closely monitor Apple’s progress with this network. My sincere hope is that the rollout will happen soon, enabling everyone to reap its benefits smoothly.
